TheScarf
Ach well, maybe Verdasco was a step too far for Andy in his recovery. What will his ranking be after the USO finishes roughly?

John Lambies Doos
He was let down by his technical ability. He was there fighting every point, in what way was he mentally fragile? His serve, forehand and even his steady backhand were not match sharp. He continued to error in all aspects of his game throughout the match. That will come with more practice - most of his work is physical just now with very little practice. That part of his game will come, I think people need to manage their expectations of what he is capable of. The rest of the season should be about trying to win an event, and trying to get wins against better opponents.Have to politely disagree, this is also based on his post match press conference. The lay off has not only affected his fitness(obviously) but has also affected his mentality as well. Common knowledge would pertain that sharpness would decrease both physically and mentally with any time out. Off course he will get it back but him himself admits these mental doubts. If you look at last night's stats his break point savers were very poor compared to his usual stats, not to mention a lot of yo yo'ing of serve. Mentality will of course strengthen but I think he is still fragile

His ball toss is shorter than usual, and the range of distance in the contact point is far wider than normal. Making it far easier for his opponent to read his serve. His first serve % remains lower, and he also tends to take some zip off his first serve to protect the second serve. I think there is a confidence issue there, but the technical aspect certainly doesn't help his confidence.
Loki
There is something beautiful about Nadal getting destroyed by a Forehand.
John Lambies Doos
Really hope DelPo wins this.. He is in a great half of draw as he could easily swat Nadal away with that forehand

John Lambies Doos
Would that not be a disqualfication?Probably just a warning, if really unlucky a forfeited point.
Loki
Zverev has again under performed at a slam. He has made one quarter final in fourteen attempts. Kohlschreiber won the last six games in the fourth set to clinch the victory. He used the back hand slice to perfection, absolutely roasted him. For someone so big, his serve isn't very good. Lendl really has his work cut out for him, but certainly has lots of potential.

In a best of three match he can look mentally strong, but in best of five he can't keep it mentally together. His collapse against Ernie Gulbis was utterly embarrassing. I don't think he has that much game intelligence at all.

peasy23
Never really thought that Andy would play the Davis Cup tie, but he has confirmed now that he won't. This is from his Instagram.I just wanted to write a quick message to apologise to the British davis cup team and all the fans who are coming to watch in Glasgow and support on tv. I have genuinely loved competing in this Davis cup format over the course of my career and have had some of the most memorable and special moments (the lob) of my career competing for my country. With this possibly being my last chance to compete in Scotland as a professional I really wanted to be there with team and found this decision emotionally quite challenging. I had spoken to our captain, Leon, about possibly coming to just play doubles but having been recommended to take a couple of weeks off hitting to continue my reconditioning I didn't want to just show up not ready to perform to a high enough standard and ultimately let my teammates/country down. If I don't get the chance to compete in Scotland again I just want to say thank you so much to all the fans who have come along to watch and support the team over the years. You have created some incredible atmospheres for me and the team to play in and I will always remember that. Having been born in Glasgow and growing up in Scotland I would never have imagined I would see such passionate fans packing out stadiums for tennis matches. Playing with my Big Bro in those stadiums has been very very special.Thank you so much again.. I'll miss you [emoji22][emoji112][emoji443] by yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes[emoji443]#tennis
