If he doesn't progress I'd expect him to retire next year at Wimbledon after accepting wild card. Yep I'm thinking Wimbledon 2021 will be the end of the line for him.
jaggyness
Andy withdraws from this week's event in Cologne with a further pelvic issue. Can't see him hanging around too much longer with this being seemingly a persistent issue.
John Lambies Doos
Andy should play some challenger tournaments and take from there. (Build his points up there) Eventually the tour will get pissed off with his wild cards. Aim for a final swansong next year at Wimbledon (no one will grudge him a wild card there).Obviously if he competes well there then heh ho
peasy23
6 years ago today and always worth an outing. He played Robredo twice in a week or so and Robredo had about a dozen match points but just couldn't get over the line.
TheScarf
Why has Dan Evans played Stan Wawrinka in every tennis tournament since 1994?
aDONisSheep
You've gotta love Medvedev! Nothing about him looks quite right (including his haircut), but he is well worth watching. Thiem still my favourite, though.

Loki
Medvedev's celebration when winning the ATP Finals was brilliant. A very nonchalant shrug and a slow walk to the net to give Thiem a lukewarm hand shake. In an interview in the Murray Monfils show on twitch he said he thought it would be the best way to celebrate. All these legends of the game super celebrating and him not giving a shit. Also the first player ever to defeat the top three seeds to win it. With very little points to defend at the start of the year, he now has a great chance to topple Novak around March. Did anyone else watch the Murray Monfils shows on twitch?
TheScarf
Medvedev is brilliant. I love watching him play and he seems like a pretty funny and troll-like personality. Basically everything Nick Kyrgios aspires to be, and fails miserably. He's currently my favourite player, bar Andy Murray.

Medvedev makes me laugh, comes so natural to him and backs it up on court with a big title too.Big shout out to Thiem too, comes across as an absolute gentleman and will win more majors

He can gain significant points at Indian Wells and Miami and hopefully get a few more wins on the clay (assuming calendar is relatively normal).
Loki
Andy Murray returned to action today playing Dan Evans. In a close match Murray won in straight sets 7-6 6-4. His serve was better, his forehand was better, and his movement was good. Was a bit knackered at the end. First serves in, still needs a bit of work, but the variety on the second serve is good again. Pretty encouraging. He needs about 15 pull outs to make the main draw of the Australian Open that has now been pushed back to a February start. Qualifying will be mid January in Dubai. I am sure he will get the one international Wild Card to the main draw if he asks for it. He may want to play qualifying to get some quality matches in, and test where he is.
John Lambies Doos
He should play the qualifying. It will be good for him and perhaps someone else deserves the wildcard

peasy23
Don't know about "our" Andy Murray, but an English one has taken a wildcard to play in the Delray Beach Open, an ATP 250 tourney in Florida in January.

I would genuinely change my name if I was that guy. He’s clearly able to play tennis to a reasonably high standard if he’s getting into ATP250 events, and the only reason anyone will even give you a second look is because you share a name with the greatest British tennis player who has ever lived. It would be like a guy called Cristiano Ronaldo playing football for a Portuguese second division team, it wouldn’t be worth the hassle.

It's the old GB = England striking again.
IrishBhoy
Just now, die hard doonhamer said: Which one of you has been whooshed? Or is it me? It's the old GB = England striking again. I’ve just clicked the twitter link and I think I’ve been wooshed in a quite horrific fashion. John Lambies Doos
Happens a lot tbf. Katy Taylor is often referred as English. I'm sure Andy will have a word.

Hard to believe that having been on tour so long somebody could still make that mistake regarding Andy Murray. He looked to be moving fairly well during the latest round of inter Brit matches, hopefully gets some more decent game time in Florida.
