I have to say now, I just didn't see Zverev as being a possible world No. 1. I thought his second serve was terrible (worse than even 'The Girny Loons' one). And it was so prone to doubles in windy or pressure situations. His chokes against Thiem in the US Open also had me convinced that he just wouldn't quite make it to the very top. He's now knocking off big players with fairly convincing wins on a regular basis, so I'm going to eat a bit of humble pie and admit that he may well be the next big thing. That said, he's not without challengers, I like the looks of Berretini and Sinner and if Thiem can keep injury free, he might still be the man. I still think that Auger-Aliassime (sp) could be special but he seems to have stalled (that's possibly a bit harsh) but I don't feel he's progressing as quickly as say Berretini. I don't think I've ever seen Casper Ruud play, so can't comment, but he's top 10 I think, so can't be all bad. Much though I've loved watching Federer, Nadal & Djokovic, I do see this next period of tennis as a changing of the guard and I'm looking forward to it. Finally, just to add to my tennis credentials; in absolutely NO WAY did I see the rise of Norrie into even the top 50, let alone top 20 and nearly TOP 10! Loki
I think a lot of Zverev’s problems with the second serve was a change in trying to hit two first serves. He’s now at a point where he finds himself in a service rhythm and he just fires out two first serves constantly. His plus one shot after the serve is as good as anyones, he can lace it with forehand or backhand. I don’t think he adapts to conditions or change in strategies, so I think a cleverer player will give him trouble. But with his service so damn good now, there will be less opportunity. That Turin court was so fast. Casper Ruud is a good player but he is largely there as he went through the clay court tournaments post Wimbledon and won four in four weeks. Tennis starts again for Murray on December 16th as he is playing in The Middle East. QF against Thiem, winner plays Nadal. Think it’s Rublev, Ruud and Shapo in the other half.

At the moment we have a good and a decent singles player and a more than decent doubles partnership I genuinely think we have a shot of winning this. As a team it’s pretty strong.

It's a pity Evans by his own admission didn't work as hard as he should have when he was younger, then obviously had the cocaine ban. He should have done more as he obviously does have talent.
JMDP
Went to the Russia-Ecuador match last night. Medvedev is something else, his backhand is fantastic. Rublev is a weird guy, seemed to be constantly rattled both in his singles and doubles matches.

Donathan
Even a couple of years ago it would have been completely unthinkable that a GB team without Andy Murray would be competitive in the Davis cup. Fair play to the team for almost making the semi finals

It would be at the start of Leon Smith’s reign, Andy stated that he would only play if GB were in the World Group, and Jamie’s double ranking had fallen dramatically. The unlikely 3-2 comeback victory against Russia in 2013 had neither. Murray then returned for the World Group playoff before getting his back surgery.

Loki
Andy Murray has parted ways with Jamie Delgado it seems. He was more influential in that 2016 period than Lendl IMO. The fine tuning of the second serve on clay to make the French Open Final set him up for the rest of the year. Great partnership but felt it ran its course more than a year ago.
