standman
For the last number of years it's been a real irritant that cup draws aren't as immediate as they used to be. Why couldn't they have made the Scottish Cup draw on Saturday? And why the hell is the League Cup semi final draw a week on Monday? The English don't seem to mess about- the next round of their League Cup is usually on Wednesday night immediately after the games have taken place. Anybody know why it's so drawn out up here? Gaz FFC
Agreed. Have the draw whilst people are watching and interested in the cup. Not days later when people have forgotten who is in the draw
rhliston
Have to agree with your comments once again the Scottish Football Authorities are shown up for their complete lack of professionalism. Maybe they should take note of how the English do it and follow suit, just a suggestion.
Jack Burton
The Scottish Cup draw should take place around 5.30 / 6 pm on the Saturday. Nothing better than listening to the radio on the way home after a cup win to find out who you have got in the next round.
BIGQ FAE KDY
Exactly what i was saying at the weekend why cant the draw for the cup not be done at a lower league ground or something like that at full time of the teams game.It would give a bit of excitement to a smaller club that may never get it and a lot more interest for all fans in general. On the radio and live on sportscene would also be good.Rather than on a thursday morning at 10am when folk are at work. Poet of the Macabre
After much consideration I've decided the main reason is incompetence, followed swiftly by sheer apathy.
Parkgatequeens
Its high time that all Cup games were scheduled where teams from the same leagues cannot be drawn against each other. Also all top league sides should be forced to play League Cup games away from home like they do in Spain. We have just got to stop showing repetitious games as it is destroying our game. Look at the Inverness crowd the other night against Ross County for example. It's becoming too boring and tedious at times.

HibeeJibee
Seeding or 'draw protection'? Appalling idea.
welshbairn
That's how we ended up with the Premiership, Championship, League 1 and League 2. The daftest decision since hiring Cockwomble. Uniting the leagues gave a great chance to go back to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th divisions.
Steve McQueen
I think the league cup could do with a Wimbledon style ladder where you know your route to the final. This could also slightly help against the seeding where a club would inherit a higher ranking.
Bully Wee Villa
They tried that in the English League Cup one year. It was shite.

The Naitch
I'm sure Doncaster/Regan mentioned a while back that the reason why the cup draws tend to be on some random weekday is so that the sponsors can get an extra day's exposure in the media. Which is entirely believable given that the timings are of utterly no use to the folk that should matter most - the fans.
Bully Wee Villa
Surely they get more exposure if the draw is held at a time when loads of people can watch or listen to it?

Did they offer 2 bids, 1 based on the draw being straight away and a few quid more if we have the draw when nobody other than the great unemployed (old firm fans) can watch? Even the very small things in Scottish football seem to find a way of annoying fans. We copy pretty much everything England does. Any chance we can copy their cup draw ideas? 7-2
We copy pretty much everything England does. Any chance we can copy their cup draw ideas? That'd be far too radical. Three unsmiling stooges squeezed in front of a cheap marketing board is still a cutting edge approach to the Hampden suits blazers and grey slacks. Also I'm not sure what the point of Alex McLeish doing it from Hampden is as well, different if he was doing it from some lower league ground on a Saturday night after the draw or something but it's totally pointless.
