Unbeaten Runs

Yesterday's 3-0 defeat to Beith marked the end of a 20-match* unbeaten run for Kilwinning Rangers which stretched back to mid-September.

Are there any other clubs on significant unbeaten runs at present, or have there been any historic runs that your club has embarked upon?

Think in 1998/1999 The Buffs went over a full calendar year unbeaten. Don't know how many games it was though. Kilbirnie beat them just before the cup final. From memory they only lost one game in the league that year down at Talbot,on the last game of the season after playing about 5 games in seven days.

Around 26 games from start of season under Tommy Reynolds. Think it's was 1990/91 (might have been 28 but long time ago so can't recall for certain)

First loss was to Glenafton in the Scottish 1/4s. The week before the game was called off with a waterlogged pitch despite very little if any rain fall and stories of them having only 12 fit players.

For some reason despite an amazing run we still only won the league on the last day of the season with a nervous 0-0 draw away at Lesmahagow

Where is he now?

Out of football - which is only the loss of football as a fantastic young Manager.

The worst decision ever made was accepting his resignation without a fight to keep him - strange one that!!

I believe Lithgy roses record is of 53 games unbeaten only to be horsed by the once mighty Armadale thistle at Easter road in the st michaels cup semi final . A young defender turned striker in the guise of Colin stein the slayer of the rose . Allas for the dale these days are but a very distant memory .hopefully a turn around can be found SOON

That run was 39 games. The 51 in 2012/13 was remarkable but, a bit like the 65 team, hindsight maybe suggests that losing before the cup final might have released a wee pressure valve for us.

The interesting thing was in 1965 Armadale ended the run and in 2012/13 Armadale took the Rose to penalties in the 50th game (with a last minute equaliser from Frankie your keeper).

The statto's or historians may be able to confirm that the 50 games unbeaten run eclipsed that of Fauldhouse in the 40's

Old Armadale fan told us that when they won the cup in 1946 they were unbeaten in 47 games. Any one can confirm?

From that era the story was all about the Fauldhouse team and their great run of games - not heard Armadale mentioned (but not to say that they didn't)

When we went the 53 games unbeaten in 2012/13 - the benchmark figure to beat was Fauldhouse from 1949??
