What are you looking at?

Recommended Posts

I agree the phrase "real estate" is somewhat wanky, but the point remains you've got more room on your screen if you stick the task bar down the side, especially on a widescreen monitor.

For scientific purposes, I unlocked my toolbar from it's correct place (along the bottom) and moved it to it's unholy place (along the side).

Not only are you talking shite, but my computer, obviously disgusted at what I had done, locked up and fell on it's arse.

More tabs open though if you keep it on the bottom of the screen for quickly flicking between various scientific and engineering (porn) sites.

I used to think the same. But if you look at the shape of a typical monitor / laptop screen, having the task bar at the bottom takes up more space. Sticking it to the side frees up more "real estate".

Or right click on task bar and select auto hide.

Not only does it remain in the correct non beastly place, it also frees up 'real estate' until needed.
