KnightswoodBear Posted April 15, 2016 Share Posted April 15, 2016 I agree the phrase "real estate" is somewhat wanky, but the point remains you've got more room on your screen if you stick the task bar down the side, especially on a widescreen monitor. For scientific purposes, I unlocked my toolbar from it's correct place (along the bottom) and moved it to it's unholy place (along the side). More tabs open though if you keep it on the bottom of the screen for quickly flicking between various scientific and engineering (porn) sites. But if you look at the shape of a typical monitor / laptop screen, having the task bar at the bottom takes up more space. Sticking it to the side frees up more "real estate". Or right click on task bar and select auto hide. Not only does it remain in the correct non beastly place, it also frees up 'real estate' until needed.
