Watching Gogglebox just now and it's the bit about the BBC Horizon programme about Zoos.

What do people think?

I personally don't like Zoos. To me it's very often playing God with animals for the sake of entertainment or curiosity.

I feel particularly sorry for those Pandas at Edinburgh zoo. Badgered continually and moved from pillar to post by the staff and all the intrusive tests to do with their fertility.

The media don't help with their obsession regarding will they/won't they produce cubs. Nobody cares, just leave them alone.

We met a couple while on holiday in Kenya who had been on what sounded like an amazing safari.

When I asked them the favourite part if their holiday they both said 'Mombasa zoo':(

I can see why people don't like Zoos. However I think they can be important in allowing people to see animals they would likely never see and thus raising awareness of their state in the wild and help with conservation.

Perth used to have a really good Zoo but it's just been demolished. Shame really.
