I never played the Monkey Island games- but they look similar to Broken Sword? Is that a fair comparison? 
Both are point and click games so it is a fair comparison.

Monkey Island is more humorous and doesn't take itself too seriously. The first two games are some of the best in the genre, would highly recommend the remakes.
