BBC Scotland and SPFL agree new TV, radio and online deal

Is this not a case of "more games televised = more money" more than any increase in pay per match?

That is the case in terms of live TV contracts... New league deal with Sky-BT is "25% higher" than the old one which was £15M, but progressively their allocation of games was increased from 60 to 65 to 70 including a variety of lower-league matches, and is now (IIRC) 60 Premiership plus play-offs. In the League Cup the deal with BT is worth £2M, double the previous BBC figure, but in return they've more than trebled the number of games from 4 to 13.

However this new BBC highlights/radio deal doesn't seem to have much new. Indeed, with no Rangers I expect more limited coverage of lower-levels.

No live games either (aside from Alba) judging by the announcement on the SPFL website:

"The announcement follows news earlier this season that Sky Sports and BT Sport will continue to broadcast live Ladbrokes Premiership matches until the end of season 2019/20."

Not the end of the world, can't be doing with Sunday games.

Assume BT/Sky would still retain rights for all spfl games? Potential for lower leagues games shown particularly if hibs stay down.

Apparently not. New deal includes 30 Premiership games each for both Sky and BT with all 6 Premiership playoffs also available to BT. No mention of Championship. Playoffs aside, that is the arrangement which was in place before Rangers liquidation... after that the figures were increased to 65 then 70, but included lower-league matches, and they typically showed select Rangers away games and a variety of higher-profile Championship matches.

New deal confirmation:

If Hibs stay down it wouldn't hugely surprise me if that's tweaked, or had a supplement arranged, so they could show Hibs-Dundee Utd contests.

BBC Alba still have their deal for 16 lower-league games.

It would be interesting to find out if the lower league clubs could come to some arrangement with the club's own tv station to get some kind of lower league program set up. Guaranteed we will have no coverage now servo are promoted.

What, no confidence?

The boycott is because your club banned a nasty reporter at the bbc who told some home truths.

No one is banned. BBC journalists were banned at Dundee tho, the BBC simply sent another journalist.

For a team that banned the BBC for the truth, The Beeb have fell over themselves to the extent that you'd think nothing existed outside Govan, mind you, the papers have been much the same.  Suppose it's easier this than actually doing some reporting.

Falling over themselves you say, they don't even cover our games in open all mics......
