dezz
No Carson in the squad for the friendly against Crusaders today. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen him in any of the training videos from Ireland. Edit: no Cadden either. Could just be extra rest because of him being away with Scotland as he’s definitely over in Ireland or could be related to the recent rumours...
capt_oats
Going by that team it's: Gillespie Tait Maguire Hartley ATS Brown McHugh Bigi Turnbull Bowman Newell It's 4 central midfielders in there anyway...

Would seem odd to bump McHugh out of his "preferred" position but equally there are that many centre mids at the club just now it wouldn't be a surprise if Robinson had sat McHugh down and had a 'chat' with him about possibly being more flexible with where he's being played this season. He didn’t have a great year in the middle of the park last year and with the increased competition and SR’s comments on ‘more ownership of the ball in the middle of the park’ it wouldn’t seem like to much of a stretch that a chat along the lines you mention has been had. I know it’s only a friendly but you can’t beat that feeling of another MFC season kicking off!

Aye, with Aldred having left and McHugh a capable enough centre half it could easily be the case that we're looking for him to provide the depth/cover rather than bring a new centre half in (acknowledging the Donnelly signing of course). Given the complaints/concerns/observations about lack of creativity etc it seems notable (yes, it's a friendly) that he's got Bigi and Turnbull both in the starting XI. Most of the youngsters at the Toulon have been given an extra rest from their clubs

WellView
Changing the whole team at half time tells you it was ( quite rightly ) a training exercise. On the bright side, not one of the players named today gives me the fear. We've come a long way since that complete clusterfurk summer 2016.

Antiochas III
Nothing to look in it. Carson's misses is expecting any day now isn't she? Probably the reason why he is not in Ireland.
capt_oats
There they are lads... Edit to add: just noticed that Hartley's got the captain's armband rather than McHugh. Edited July 1, 2018 by capt_oats

YassinMoutaouakil
There's more to that Tait/ Osama Bin Laden story surely? Still in awe at that revelation tbh.

It was a belter. Reminds me of this Dom Jolly tale. However, Taits story trumps that and I’m surprised the tabloids haven’t picked up on it yet (not that I know of) as it’s the sort of tale they love.
capt_oats
Noticed in the QoS thread that Adam Livingstone was playing in their 2-2 draw with Annan and also saw that Shea Gordon has played in Thistle's recent bounce games. They were both offered new deals with us and they've been included in our squad lists but AFAIK there's been no official confirmations about them signing unlike, for example, Barry Maguire. I doubt we could name them in our squad list if they weren't signed though. Robinson confirmed in his interview a couple of weeks back that we had loan deals lined up for a few of the younger players so with MacLean already out at Morton I take it Livingstone and Gordon are next for loans. A trial period prior to a loan deal seems a bit of a new thing though. That said, if it means that there's a better chance of them signing and getting game time then I'm all for it. Thomas seemed to do alright at QoS and I'd imagine there's probably a pretty good relationship between Craigan and Archibald so you'd hope that both would be good fits for the players if the deals happen. Either way both Livingstone and Gordon definitely need games at this stage in their development. Edited July 2, 2018 by capt_oats
