Motherwell FC - A Thread For All Seasons

Recommended Posts

Disappointed to see the big man go, but it seems like a positive bit of business in terms of the initial fee and potential kick-on’s.

We’ve got a few weeks to get a few more bodies in and while Robinson won’t be receiving a windfall, hopefully a small part of the fee will be available to invest in the squad.

Currently more concerned about the increasing numbers sidelined by injury and suspension, we didn’t really have many issues on either front last season, so it’ll be a test of the guys on the sidelines.

The season starting for us on the Sunday has killed the buzz a wee bit for me, reckon it’ll take a few hundred off our crowd too.

Just as we lose Kipre - Hibs announce signing of Jamie McLaren

At the risk of going all MJC and Ya Bezzer I feel like as we approach the game on Sunday we get weakened and they get strengthened. Game was going to be tough enough as was. At least Cadden seems as if he will make it.

Still I will go along more in hope than expectation. At some point I will no doubt stare into space and dream of Cedric as Hibs score a 5th goal :-(

Note the silence of Ya Bezzer.

I just found out about the transfer.

Disappointed to see Kipre go.

As for the whole contract thing, the fact that we offered him three contracts in a season just shows that the second contract was undervalued, therefore we got it wrong, and instead had to offer him another one later.  Instead of just holding off for a couple of months to see what kind of player we had, assessing him properly and then offering him a new contract, as was my policy.

But keep bring it up if you want to showcase how I got something right.

It doesn’t look as good as it did even a few weeks ago, since then we’ve had the struggles at Stranraer and Clyde, lost a few to injury, before selling Kipre today, but when faced with difficulties Robinson has come up with crucial signings time and time again.

Just got to see what the next few weeks bring, that being said, Sunday is going to be really tough.

If it makes you feel any better, Kipre had an absolute nightmare in the corresponding fixture last year at Easter Road.

This is actually a really good point and probably worth highlighting when we're mentioning the sea change in terms of the way we're running our transfer business.

Beyond that I'd like to think that the Kipré sale should give us a decent foundation finances-wise. We seem very comfortable telling folk to GTF if their offers don't match our valuations and the Heneghan and Johnson cash seemed to help with that position last summer. Hopefully this sale gives us a bit more comfort in that respect as and allows us to be more discerning in who we choose to deal with.

To be honest he was not playing that well pre season and during cup games. That may have something to do with speculation etc

I loved the big guy and he was for the 1st time in a while a kind of Icon. Helps that he seems a genuinely decent guy.

But he is raw and there have been many a time I have seen his defending / clearances and thought WTF. But then there have been other times where he has strolled it. In all honesty I am not sure it is a given he will make the big time, but if he can cut out the mistakes and that should come with experience he has every chance. I am sure all Well fans hope he does.

Grant will have been able to delete a lot of French rap from his computer today. He discussed that on the podcast before the end of the season, it’s really interesting just how much of a remit the media team have in regards to almost every aspect of the club.

*He’s on the podcast on Monday too so we’ll discuss it further [emoji6]

Ya'll need to calm down.  We started last season with a defeat to Rangers and a meltdown v St Johnstone.  We took one point from Hibs last year.

We knew Kipre was a goner. The received wisdom was that he, Carson and Cadden would leave this summer. The wailing and gnashing is pathetic.

Martin Foyle has been superb for  us.  The emergency signing of Aldred being a prime example. Foyle and SR will easily replace Kipre with an efficient centre half. Maybe not an iconic centre half, but defo efficient and effective. We  have a month to find that replacement.

So what if we lose on Sunday. The million quid plus is far more important to the club than points tomorrow.  Calm Doon.

@Ya Bezzer!  Don't bother quoting me.  I don't read your replies. I take you as seriously as Mr 15,000 posts who doesn't attend games.  You are both kings of worthless opinions.
