The entire country hates us for being left wing, we are now the home of the English left as the North has gone to the Blairites. Without membership of the EU, emigrating is even harder so it looks like we need our city to leave the UK or we're stuck in the UK, with no retirement. So how best can we leave the UK? London would be fucked if not for the fact the rest of the UK has subsidised the infrastructure spend for a couple of decades. That being said, it is likely that if the UK does actually go through with pulling out of the EU that some fairly rich and influential people will do what they can to have London granted some kind of special "Still in the EU" status because they simply cannot afford to let the banks leave having put so many eggs in that basket. Independence of a sort, but to what extent I don't know. This of course is what Boris Johnson would prefer anyway, though it has been quite a while since he mentioned it. Arsenal till I die Posted June 28, 2016 Author Share Posted June 28, 2016 ok a few things: 1) The banks have totally shafted this country, and they've been allowed to run rampant by UK politicians, voted for by UK voters. A Conservative Party which London never votes for and a Labour Party obsessed by Little England fuckwits from elsewhere. Take London out of the UK and you have the regulation of the banks so desperately needed. 2) Londoners give far more of a stuff about Scotland than the rest of England does. London and Scotland certainly are far more in step with each other in the electoral stakes. It would be good for London to join Wales or Scotland within the UK but I'm against it as it would dilute the independence vote. 3) We've seen the money argument in Scotland. What matters is what a country does with the money it has. Middle England does nothing but squander money on the wealthy, the thing that Scotland and London have in common is that even if they had less, they would spend more of it on the things it should go on.
