LiamA Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Hate to be a party pooper but clubs could be in serious doodoo for allowing highlights on social media. We got a letter from Spfl warning against posting anywhere but official sites.

In most cases it's the clubs own highlights package rather than a thing through the SPFL or TV based highlights package.

What a pity if that's the case though as it's great seeing these collected in one place especially given there's no tv coverage of them. I wouldn't spend time going round loads of club's sites for highlights so this is ideal.
LiamA Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Totally agree, it's because Spfl own he copyright to all footage not the clubs. We asked permission to produce a DVD a few years back & the sum quoted was absurd! Far outweighed any potential sales income. Monday & Tuesday lunchtimes spent trawling lower league clubs websites for game footage.

Not heard a peep about any warnings for doing that.
Granny Danger Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Who owns the SPFL? Oh yeah, the clubs that comprise it.
wuffster Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 While it is true that the SPFL owns the copyright to match footage, I have found them to be much more realistic (and helpful) than the old SFL. As far as I am aware they are happy for lower league clubs to get their highlights out for people to watch - on whatever platform (not sure what the deal is with the Premiership and TV rights etc.). A rare example of an improvement with the SPFL.
RandomGuy. Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Clubs got warned about putting highlights up before Sportscene had aired a year or two ago, think thats the extent to their complaints though.
