The pubs in Largs are all on the one street (bar two).

1. The George

2. The Lounge

3. Toby's

4. Charlie Smith's

5. The Anchor (complete with guy playing the accordion on a Saturday night).

others..

MacAulays - always hoachin' and quite good.

McCabes - attracted a younger crowd and it went downhill

Flannigans - staff went to The Lounge and it went downhill. New name now (forget what)

Sheiling - *** pub, but actually not too bad.

Vicky's - way too loud & full of desperate talent

Papa Joes - too wee

The Clachan - much better now it's been renovated

Not a bad summary mate although Toby's has gone right downhill since Paul and Hazel left.

My top 5 would be;

The Anchor (purely for the pint)

Charlie Smiths

The George

Townhouse (Flannigans)

Lounge

:)

Forgot they'd gone!

I'd replace it in the list with MacAulays, instead.

Kane-o tells me that the new owner of the Shieling is trying to change it's image and make it into a "sports bar". He even threatened to turn the TV off during the OF game if the **** in the bar didn't stop singing.

Edit - forgot two other pubs in Largs (and forget their names)

The wee one near "Gavin's" - (the black ship?) - a right old man's place.

The one up from Fry-fare (very wooden inside) -no bad, but off the beaten path.

I was up there a year or 2 ago in the upstairs bit for a party - wasn't brilliant but I take it the downstairs bit is good. :)

This is also difficult for Stirling

1 - The Albion Bar

2 - No.2 Baker Street (Formerly Hoggs Head)

3 - Er..Droothy Neebors probably

4 - The Falcon in St Ninians, only because it's my local, not because it's any good.

5 - The Crooked Arm in Bridge of Allan.

Bloody hell, this is gonnae be difficult for Coatbridge...

1) Big Ownies - Smashing pub, nice big beer garden.

2) Enigma - Sometimes a bit w**ky but the most modern boozer in town, nice wee beer garden.

3) The Mint - dead as a dodo at times and is more of a bistro now than a pub now. The fantastic music at weekends is the saving grace.

4) The Grange - it's next door to my house, is nicely decorated and sells beer.

5) The Edge - it was far better when it was McFlys but where else has free entry from 8 'til 11 and is open 'til 3am 7 days a week?
