Big Fifer
Has there been a method agreed between the two parties for how this Brexit bill is calculated? We'll obviously be somewhat obligated to pay for certain commitments but the current figures just seem to be getting plucked from absolutely nowhere.

Both sides should be clear about what they see as the UK's obligations and the cost of each of these ob;ligations. That really should not be a difficult thing to do. There may still be disagreement but at least there would be clear understanding of what the issues were therefore allowing the electorate of all existing EU countries to determine who we think is being reasonable or otherwise.

Yeah, I'm not one to pander to the "LETS JUST LEAVE!!!!1111" line, but where are we getting this £40bn figure from? If there was a clear write up of the projects we'd signed up to before leaving that came to this figure then yeah sure I understand, but as yet from what I can see they're negotiating on a figure that has no real meaning.

Hence liebour being consigned to the league of diddy parties. (Diddy league= anyone behind the tories in Scotland) To be fair they're only behind the tories up here because they all but stood down credible candidates or engaged in a credible campaign in order to avoid splitting the unionist vote. In turn, they cost Labour the election and fired a wheelbarrow full of cash into the DUP. Epic fail on every level.

There's a delicious and I'm sure co-incidental, rangers*-esque "we've been punished enough" narrative rearing it's head in brexit land. Great to see. Iain Dale This is almost comical. They encourage British cities to spend money on their final bids and then ban them. All too typical of the ‘punish the Brits’ attitude prevailing in Brussels. https://twitter.com/rolandmcs/status/933673665660641280 … Edited November 23, 2017 by williemillersmoustache

Hopefully the same attitude will prevail in Brussels when they want the UK to pay for commitments post 2019.

As disappointing as this is it'll be fucking great to see iScotland's new capital city Dundee named European City of Culture in 10 years time.

Brexit 'bombshell' for UK's European Capital of Culture 2023 plans - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-42097692 Some really bad reporting of this - it's not Brexit but the fact we are choosing a hard Brexit. Some countries outwith the EU can still participate because they are members of the EEA. We've chosen not to go the Norway-style relationship so deserve to get fucked over.

Fullerene
If Dundee had become European City of Culture despite the fact the UK had left the EU, then you can be sure of one thing. Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and all the rest would be making numerous visits to Dundee to say "See - we don't need to be in the EU to become European City of Culture." I would have thought the people of Dundee would be very relieved to know that these visits are not going to happen now.
