Brexit slowly becoming a Farce.

NI would just go back to trading with GB

And lose their frictionless trade with Eire and the EU for the sake of checking a few sausages at Larne. The DUP thought they were playing a blinder backing Boris's Brexit, now they've been shafted by him and they're plummeting in the polls. Now they seem to be trying to close Stormont before the May elections, not sure how that works.

I wasn't being entirely serious.

Constitutionally the Protocol is a disaster.

Economically it might be the best thing since the sliced loaf.

I don't think the DUP backed Boris' Brexit.

And they are not trying to close Stormont before the May elections.

The DUP backed Boris's rejection of May's deal which would have meant alignment with the Single Market for the whole UK, negating the need for any checks for NI, East/West or North/South. Then Boris turned round and shafted them.

"Leaving the EU had some arguments for it. Leaving the single market had none. “Soft” Brexit within that market would have been far been easier to negotiate. Leaving it has meant wrecked supply chains and terminated scientific collaboration. It has undermined recruitment patterns and destabilised Northern Ireland. It has crippled the fish industry and impeded billions of pounds of UK trade. Its consequences have wavered between nuisance and disaster."

Theresa May’s red line - pander to the racists on freedom of movement and you can’t be part of the Single Market.
Tory party panic and infighting from the moment Farage threatened to upset their MP numbers has led us to where we are. f**k the lot of them. Party first. Idiots.

Generations without imperial measurements being taught in schools, but to no benefit whatsoever, we're going to pander to people who literally wish they'd been born a hundreds years ago.

I know Dawson Park Boy gets a contrarian kick out of feigning astonishing levels of stupidity and ignorance on a regular basis, but we're plumbing new depths here, surely.

They don't use imperial in the USA. They use US Customary. There are significant differences between the two so-called "systems"

There are indeed but there is absolutely no reason why different systems can’t exist and thrive in different countries.

The US system is derived from imperial and in some areas is  the same.

Makes life more interesting.
Here in the UK we have a mix of imperial and metric which works fine.

3) Here in the UK we have a mix of imperial and metric which works fine.

1) Apart from when you want to import or export goods, of course. It's easy to use measurement marking as a way to erect barriers to trade. Metric is constant across borders.

2) The US system is not derived from Imperial. Imperial wasn't codified until 1824. US Customary is mainly based upon Queen Anne measures from 1707. That's why they are different!

The only reason that some imperial/USC measures are now the same is because they were standardised by reference to the metric system in 1963.

Distance - The US still uses two different "foot" measures. The one that isn't equal to 30.48cm is still used for land measure, as the city blocks in USA were set out using a different foot from the equivalent imperial foot.

Weight - Ounces & Pounds are the same (since 1963). Stones don't exist in the US, and their hundredweights & tons are smaller than imperial

Measure - Apart from the names, the measurements (fl oz, pint & gallon) are completely different.

3) Measurement of goods for trade in the UK is primarily metric. Beer by the pint is the main exception. It's a pretty metric-heavy mix.

If Mogg wants to change anything to Imperial, then the smelly looking c**t should have to convert his hedge funds to Imperial units of currency. I’m sure he’d be happy with them being made fucking worthless overnight. It would be a Brexit Benefit he could tell us and Sun readers about.
