The Official Former President Trump thread

That's him accused Obama's security advisor of some crime or other.
He's also come out in support of Bill O'Reilly who has cost Fox news 13 million in hush money to woman he harassed.
All this when he really should be preparing for the Chinese President coming to visit.

Never noticed before. She's got that curved Witches face from the Wizard of Oz.

Nose saying hi to her chin too.

She looks like a porn star past her sell by date, tbh

Nixon almost got away with Watergate.  That was because he was surrounded by seasoned political operators.

These c***s are stumbling amateurs in turn.  They do things with absolutely no finesse and appear surprised when they're found out.

I thought they'd be corrupt but I am shocked at the frequency and prominence of their f**k ups. It would be really funny if in trying to divert the focus to leaks all the time and demanding investigations into the last administration, they ended up opening up something that put incriminating evidence out about themselves.

I have a wee feeling that there is news to come with Bannon and his demotion. It'll either be something incriminating to him or, if not, Trump's daughter and son in law will be trying to argue with the crazy voices in Donald's head.

I could be an old cynic but the 10 o'clock news had this down to cruise missiles to the one airfield from which the attack was launched. So 3 hours later would there be any Russian aircraft or even any Syrian ones left in that airfield. For the media to have so much information there must have been an insider breefing them. I guess trump was worried if he called Putin and let him know to get his plane's out of their one of the investigations into his Russian link's might have claimed that as working with the Russians.

America warned the Russians this was happening earlier today.
The interesting part of this is Russia having troops on the very place the chemical weapons were kept and delivered from.
There's also a fair bit of whining going on about him keeping Congress out of the loop on this.

I hope this doesn't escalate but I have to say well done Trump.

Time for the EU to get its act together and more action now of a non-military kind.  Freezing assets, arms embargo, travel bans  and sanctions against countries supporting any side in the conflict.

No point in destroying their airbase unless they crack on, or all that does is weaken Assad and lengthen the conflict?

If anything is going to create a major international military conflict it will be the 'shoot from the hip' style of action that is typified by this air strike.

The air strike itself may be justified and is certainly not the worst action carried out in Syria by a key foreign player, but it is very dangerous to view it in isolation.

Just a couple of days back Rex Tillerson was signalling to Assad that he had US support.  How was that interpreted the unstable Syrian leader?

Trump has gone from not wanting the US to be the world's policeman to taking significant unilateral action without involving other key players, including those in Washington.  I'd like to think it's for the right reasons but I'm sceptical.

An off-the-cuff approach to situations such as this is a cause for concern.  The 180 degree turn on Assad is welcome but simply highlights the fact that concern about him should have been part of the US approach from the minute Trump came into office.

What is required is a clear, cohesive US policy on Syria and related problems in the region.  Yes there needs to be flexibility when situations arise but any actions should be in the context of clear policy positions.
