Like Trump's Iran rant, it's the complete 180-degree opposite of the truth. A good number of those countries looking to be a better place will have a much better chance of doing so when the likes of McCain aren't meddling in their affairs.
Fullerene
40 minutes ago, TheProgressiveLiberal said: Blacks are treated differently in America, just not when it comes to police shootings. It's nonsense. Different ethnic groups are shot by the police in proportion to the amount of violent crimes committed by individuals in different ethnic groups. Our juries have a habit of requiring extraordinary circumstances when it comes to putting cops in jail for shootings, no matter the race of the cop or the victim. They don't go to jail for making an honest mistake. They certainly don't go to jail when defending themselves from violent criminals, as with Mike Brown. This has been the case for as long as there's been an America, going back to the colonial Boston jury letting off the British soldiers involved in the Boston massacre. Again, having consistent standards which result in different outcomes for different races is not racism. We should not be necessarily required to alter our standards just because there are different racial outcomes. Most people believe, and I think correctly believe, that a large portion of the different outcomes come down to different average behavior among individuals of different races. This looks like a discussion about whether the accusation is true or not. Fine. Get Trump and the others to discuss it too and stop going on about the flag and the national anthem.
RiG
Trump, as has been mentioned before, is so thin skinned and childish it's unreal. Any time he gets accused of doing something it's a case of "Yeah but so and so did this." Almost Rangers / Celtic levels of deflection and blame. Everything is some kind of competition to him whereby he needs to look the best. He can't even put that aside for one second in an effort to try and show an ounce of compassion. It's all about himself and how he looks. He is quite possibly the worst person on the planet. Edited October 17, 2017 by RiG

To be fair I think there might be stiff competition for the award of worst person on the planet but in terms of the influence he has (or could have if he were to stop having hissies every day) he's comfortably the biggest arsehole on the planet. He'll almost certainly emerge from this making Nixon look like a saint. Edited October 17, 2017 by HTG

He is correct that former Presidents did not call every family member, but he obviously stated it in a rude and inarticulate way. I'd agree with you on all points here. He completely Trumped it.

He wants to normalise lying, he wants it to be acceptable practice so that eventually no one will blink twice when he does it. I know that sounds absurd but there is not other explicable reason. Trump has delegitimised the role of the US president and, by extension, US politics. The astounding thing is that many Republicans who hope to have a career in politics long after Trump is a footnote in history are unwilling to challenge this assault on the political system.

Savage Henry
So, on the day the Hawaiian Court has thrown out his travel ban yet again, a bipartisan agreement has been reached to essentially reinstate anything Trump took out of Obamacare under his executive order, and several Republicans are publicly claiming it might be better for the Democrats to win the mid-terms. It’s fairly clear Trump has lost the support of his own party, and won’t be able to make any of his false promises come to fruition. An absolutely staggering position. ETA and Trump supports it! The guy is utterly clueless.

Reading through this it seems to confirm that at points in his Presidency Obama signed form letters to families. So Trump was correct to point out that he writes a personal letter. Also, Trump is now implying that his claim was based on Obama not calling Gen. Kelly, Trumps chief of staff, when his son died. Seems like a dick move to bring Kelly's business into the national spotlight. But it is BS that the media was badgering Trump about not calling every family when it had only been a few days, and then they seem to be implying in their headlines that Obama did call every family. 15 hours ago, NotThePars said: Haha. That's a funny joke. Of course it was probably mocking the media reporting on Pence, not what Trump perceives to be the actual views of Pence. Pence proved weak-kneed on this issue when he was governor of Indiana. He backtracked on a popular religious freedom bill that would have allowed people to skip religious ceremonies with which they disagreed. If he can't stand firm defending the most basic religious freedoms for people opposing gay marriage, he's not going to be rounding up people into camps anytime soon.
