Savage Henry
Where is this "Trump solved Korea" narrative coming from? If fat halfwits firing out illiterate tweets are worthy of Nobel Prizes, then allow me to claim full fucking credit next time Hearts actually win a game. It’s coming from Trump, and his echo chamber which couldn’t find the Korean Peninsula on a map. Just to help: 1. Kim’s nuclear testing site is, according to many reports, barely usable at this point due to instability. 2. North Korea is almost certainly suffering another famine. That’s the only reason Kim throws himself into the front line - to make up for serious internal failures. A summit and high profile good will tends to help these issues, as well as protect the family legacy. 3. Absolutely everything that’s happened over the last week or two allows Kim to govern in the region without pesky American influence. North Korea is the clear winner here. 4. Kim has given up nothing. America has gained nothing. Watch Trump spin it into something it manifestly isn’t. North Korea has laughed off Trump’s rhetoric and can now negotiate locally and legitimately ignore any irrational American demands. Should North Korea wish to restart its nuclear development, it can now do so with the US in no position to do anything about it. 5. In short, and not unsurprisingly, Kim just schooled Trumpy boy in international diplomacy.

welshbairn
John Bolton told Fox that the Libya model of disarmament would be appropriate for North Korea. Doubt that would be reassuring for Kim given what they did to Gaddafi after he kept his side of the bargain.
welshbairn
Wonder what will happen if Trump throws away US involvement in the Iran deal and the EU, China and Russia convince Iran to keep it going? If America punishes EU firms and banks for keeping to the treaty US banks could seriously lose out in retribution, they have very favourable access to EU markets . Hope the EU stand tall but it could totally reconfigure international relations.

In a sane world the other parties to the Iran deal would tell him he's on his own and they will play no part in any hostilities. Sadly there are signs of the likes of Macron & Merkel falling into line and talking of 'fixing' it, despite the relevant authorities consistently being of the view that Iran is fulfilling its commitments.

They're trying to convince Trump not to bail with some alternative strategies, my guess is they'll stick with the agreement along with Iran, China and Russia if he bails, which will make for some interesting days ahead. If Trump tries to take on the EU and China on this as well as trade his hardcore support are going to be hit hard.

RiG
Why is Trump still doing "campaign" rallies when the election ended 539 days ago*? *We all know why but it's really peculiar behaviour. ETA: As Trump loves big numbers he has now (un)officially passed the 3,000 mark in making false or misleading claims. Happy days.https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/trump-claims-database/?utm_term=.6eff844feb76 Edited May 1, 2018 by RiG

Perception is everything. Big shouts to Kim for joining Iran and Russia in the list of second rate powers that have absolutely owned the US in the 21st century.
