Tariffs are much worse for China than the USA.
welshbairn
Trump just said on live TV that a pardon for Manafort is not off the table. I guess Manafort will keep lying to the FBI or keep schtum. He can't pardon him for bank and tax fraud tried in state courts though, not sure what sentences he faces from them.
Detournement
Presumably he can't change his statements now in return for the plea deal now anyway.

He could probably still make a deal for total cooperation if he's got something to offer other than just his own fraud allegations. I think the Trump's lies have finally come to a tipping point though. After claiming the only thing he did with Russia was Miss World, if it turns out he and Cohen were negotiating with top bods in the Kremlin in 2016/17 over Trump Tower Moscow, I think another lie won't distract the media and Congress from it, his usual tactics.

During the Kavanaugh debacle someone posted that Trump was trying to assume the right of Presidential pardon for state crimes and that Kavanaugh supported this. Don’t know the veracity of this but it was suggested that was why Trump was so gung ho on Kavanaugh rather than some other lackey.

If you read the full article the things Cohen lied about are listed 1. He said he didn't get an email reply from a Russian minister and he actually did receive a single undeclared email from him. 2. There was a single telephone call to a Russian Minister's PA in January 2016. 3. He was in contact with an American businessman who wanted to be a middle man on a potential deal until June 2016. It's hard to see how any of it implicates Trump.

He started talking about a right wing international media organisation to compete with CNN a couple of days ago. Sounded like what his plans were supposed to be before winning the election fucked it all up. Maybe even he knows the clock is ticking. No doubt he'll say something outrageous again tomorrow and Moscow will be forgotten about again. I think the only part of the Steele document that hasn't been verified is him watching hoors pissing on the bed the Obamas slept on. Hopefully Vlad will lose patience soon.

Not going to happen.

Cohen didn't go to Prague. Aleksej Gubarev didn't hack the DNC and is suing Buzzfeed. The Chairman of Rosfnet didn't offer Carter Page an 11 Billion dollar stake in the company.

Didn't help that Trump was surrounded by fantasists who claimed to have more connections than they really had. He still hired them, for a purpose.
