You can say what you like about Trumpo, but it cannot be denied that he is box office entertainment.

Roll on the debates.

You would have loved the Nuremberg rallies; Hitler was highly entertaining and the audiences were huge.

Plus this was in the days before you had TV or social media to distract you.

Has Godwin's law just been invoked?

Is it possible that Farage's campaigning for Trump will involve walking back and forth outside a prison with a big sign saying "He's innocent.  Let him out."

I like that idea

Juror #2 apparently gets all their news from Truth Social and Twitter and still wouldn't go to bat for him.

Trump will be both seething and delighted that the most popular news source is easily The Failing New York Times.

"We'll beat the shit outta you!"
"Fuck off bitch!"
"Fuck off back to California!"

Also Trump supporters:

"She provoked us! She provoked us!"

All a bunch of babies like their cult leader.

If I was a Trump fan, I'd be accusing the Deep State/Stormy Daniels/aliens/Sleepy Joe of planting that lot to make MAGA look bad. They genuinely seem either mentally ill or likely to need some kind of monitoring for their own safety.

Imagine the look of terror if The Donald found himself cornered by them while his security was taking a toilet break  :P

If Trump was put in the same holding cell as them, Trump would still come over as the most unhinged.

I've been presuming for years that he comes out with his deranged shite because he knows these are his people - like he saw The Dark Knight and thought the Joker had some interesting ideas on how to build a following.

He seems to be getting high off his own effluent at this point, however.

It does seem like that. He'll definitely be playing the martyr from now. He's even calling himself a political prisoner. His people will indeed be lapping it up but here's hoping more people are side-lining him as being the dangerous, shattered, narcissistic charlatan he clearly is.

It’s unbelievably frightening how much the Overton Window has moved in US politics since Trump first announced his candidacy.

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of Biden being re-elected.

If Trump fails this time around I cannot see any of the pretenders being able to gather nearly as much support in 2028; there will not be coalition around a single candidate. In fact they are far more likely to tear each other apart fighting for the crown.

Also a failed attempt by Trump may likely hurt many Senate and Congressional ambitions creating further discord within the GOP.

It happens surprisingly fast, doesn't it?

It must be terrifying for minority groups who'll already know that there's a certain amount of hate for them in society, but to see it all crawling out from under every stone in places they might not even have thought about must leave them feeling completely exposed and vulnerable.

It is frightening how many idiots unconditionally support this clown and believe everything he says.

Why is he even still walking free? He should already be in prison.

Apparently because he is an ex president he is entitled to a top level security team. Which makes it unlikely he will ever serve even a day in prison. Cost being a major factor. It was explained on the BBC website today. I've copied and pasted the text for you

Can Trump go to prison?

It is possible, though highly unlikely, that Trump will serve time behind bars.

The 34 charges he faced are all class E felonies in New York, the lowest tier in the state. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of four years.

As noted above, there are several reasons why Justice Merchan could choose a lesser punishment, including Trump’s age, his lack of previous convictions, and the fact that the charges involve a non-violent crime.

He could consider Trump's violations of the court’s gag orders during the trial.

It is also possible that the judge would weigh the unprecedented nature of the case, perhaps choosing to avoid putting a former president and current candidate behind bars.

There is also a question of practicality. Trump, like all former presidents, is entitled to lifelong protection from the Secret Service. This means that some agents would need to protect him in prison.

Even so, it would be extremely difficult to run a prison system with a former president as an inmate. It would be a huge security risk and expensive to keep him safe.

“Prison systems care about two things: security of the institution and keeping costs down,” said Justin Paperny, director of the prison consulting firm White Collar Advice.

With Trump, “it would be a freak show… no warden would allow it”, he said.

Couldn't they just leave him on a deserted island for the duration of his sentence.

Dunno about that though. I mean, he's such a successful businessman that he could hole up in Trump University and be fed on Trump Steaks. As long as he wasn't able to go gambling at Trump Casino. Of course he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Trump Airlines or consume any Trump Vodka.

Ah, no, wait a minute...
