The second most democratic country in the Middle East after Lebanon.

Is this just more Trump fuckwittery, or is there going to be an actual full scale 'hot war between Israel/US/Saudis and Iran ?

I don’t think anyone wants to expose themselves to a war with Iran but each would happily see the other take them on. Think the most likely scenario is just renewing sanctions and engaging in further proxy wars.

Business as usual in the Middle East then.

The problem is John Bolton being a psychopath and Trump being so thick that he could probably read him the edited conclusion of the Millennium war game and convince him that Iran wouldn’t wipe out the US navy if it sailed into the Gulf of Hormuz.

Trump doesn't want to start a war with Iran. He just feels he owes Salman and Bibi a pressie after what nice parties they threw and said such nice things about him. Who cares about where Al Qaeda came from and its funding, and the promotion of jihadist ideology around the world. Trinkets, building contracts and big projected pictures of The Donald is what counts.

None of them barring the US can project force beyond their immediate neighbours. Iran is an economic basket case with ageing equipment, Saudi is in the middle of a huge internal pivot that could go anyway. Israels reputation is built on desert armoured warfare.  Iran's Shia Persians are the majority in the country so its the opposite to somewhere like Iraq  or Syria where a minority rule.

Israeli or US airstrikes are always possible, but the destruction of the Osirak reactor is Iraq was an object lesson in what air power could do to a nuclear weapons program so Iran has insured its not at all duel use facilities are well buried. So it will be sabre rattling for each of the fours domestic audiences and international show.

Everything points to a larger scale hot war with Iran this time. The combination of Netanyahu, Trump, Bolton, the nuke deal, and all the familiar accusations being thrown around suggests they're serious and Israel's strikes on Syria are becoming much more regular, using Iran as some kind of new ISIS pretext to bomb whatever they want.

Jumping back to the Stormy Daniels stuff I see that Cohen created a fake company which was used to funnel the payment to Daniels to buy her silence after her alleged encounter with Trump.

However, since that company was created further transactions have been made through "Essential Consultants" from companies tied to a Russian oligarch.

Furthermore, some American companies have funnelled cash through the same company including companies such as AT & T who just happened to have business being discussed before the President at the same time (merger with Time Warner). AT & T reasoned that the payments were to help "understand the Trump administration" which is very believable(!)

Drain the swamp indeed...

I don't know if I'd go that far.  I just have a feeling that should Iran do anything outside the norms of international relations, the Trump administration is chock full of the sort of people who over-react, massively.  Coupled with Israel's increasingly brazen behaviour, I can quite foresee a military incident  - or even a series of them - and a lengthy period of increasingly desperate diplomacy,  rather than a "hot war".

Of course, with profits being the raison d'être of the Trump administration, he's liable to do whatever makes Trump International the most money.

At some point, Mueller's investigation moved from Russia's involvement in vote-rigging to Russia's involvement in financial laundering.  And that's, ultimately, what'll bring Trump down.
