Aberdeen v St Johnstone

Ironic Sheep fans talking about anti football when they didn't even start a striker against us in the league, then didn't even try and play football in the final.

It's absolutely sour grapes to complain about how saints played. However another team set up its our job to break it down, something we were woeful at yesterday.

Saints have found a way to play us that seems to guarantee them at least a point, why the f**k wouldn't they use it. Let alone the fact it was them creating the better chances.

Some of our support need to get a grip and stop sounding like spoilt children.

Saints fans really are the most precious fans on this forum. Just because we think we should be beating you with the resources etc we have doesn't mean you need to all get so defensive about it.

We think you should be too. Makes it all the sweeter when you can't. Aberdeen are mildly better than St Johnstone over a season. How does that feel? When was the last time that the sheep were truly on fire? Train with Hibbees?

Also worth pointing out that we played significantly better at ibrox than we did yesterday and yet there's no collective heads gone about mcinnes shitting himself, taken us as far as we can go etc etc, apparently it's saints fault for having an effective way to play against us.

Lomas is a saints legend, second best manager they've ever had. He's to be admired if anything.

Third or fourth best, if you wanted too look at it that way. He's one of three managers to guide us to third, and TW won our only major trophy

Again, stop being so defensive. Saints have done well against us and know how to play us. Anti-football, timewasting etc work for you so embrace it instead of being upset about it.

Upset? the only time I've been upset about anything to do with Aberdeen is when I stood in dug shite outside the lemon tree.

Eta. I hope it was dug shite.

Normally I would be highly analytical about the game but it was a brutal one for both sets of fans. It's got to the stage where both teams have played each other so often that they know how to cancel each other out.

My only real gripe was the half time substitutions which left us with two strikers and only one winger to service them. An utterly baffling move. The one winger nonsense might work against the poorer teams in the League but not against Saints, Sevco and Sellick. Baffling stuff from McInnes there. Maddison lost his way without Pawlett.

We're far too slow on the ball against Saints to create anything. Allow them to get behind the ball, setup and our slow play isn't going to break them down. But we'll play the same style again next time and end up resorting to hoofball as yesterday.

On a positive note, great to see the Saints fan who collapsed and had a heart attack in February up with his family to thank the first aiders at Pittodrie. Something that we hope never happens to anyone, while it's too easy to get tribal about things, we're lucky to have first aiders and doctors at each and every game. Unsung heroes to a man and woman. Hopefully the gentleman in question is here to watch Saints matches for many years to come.

Next time you're betting, it'll be worth noting that Celtic aside, in the league, we've avoided defeat in the last seven away games against the "big teams" (Hearts, Aberdeen, Rangers). Hearts beating us 4-3 on the opening day of 2015/16 was the last time.

Agree - effective team in matches where the onus is on the opposition to make the play.

Think some of the poorer results for St Johnstone is when that situation is reversed.

Thankfully we don't meet again until April - unless of course we draw each other in the cup again.

We were so poor on Saturday, the entertainment value and Pittodrie this season has been abysmal (yes I know we just won 5-1).

Saints deserved to win the game, set up well against us as the normally do. Don’t think they play anti football, they are good at putting in a soft foul to break up our attacks though.

We just seem out of ideas at the minute, its seems to be give the ball to Hayes or Maddison and hope they do something special. If they don’t we just play it sideway until we lose it.

Too many Aberdeen players had an off day on Saturday and I think a draw was about right although St Johnstone had some decent chances near the end to win it though. Pretty grim match to watch although as Aberdeen are the home team it is up to them to entertain and that they did not manage and doesn't surprise me that we struggled. People can moan at how St Johnstone play but their budget is about a 1/3 of our budget and Tommy Wright is trying to get a result the best way possible and this way is the best way for them against us.

Shinnie needs to up his game as he has been dreadful for most of the season and the wonder kid has been dreadful for 4 games now but that is going to happen with a 19-year old who on Saturday tried to beat an extra man which there is an easy ball on a plate to another forward player. It coming a bit like last season again if Hayes is off form then we are in trouble although really pleased how well Considine is playing this season.

No need to panic yet as still in good position for European fitba which is our overall goal.

Hopefully our overall goal is to at least match the second-placed finishes of the past two seasons.

In theory that becomes tougher, as we have now have two clubs with several times our playing budget rather than just the one (who now admittedly seem over the stratosphere) - and of course the yams (albeit minus the prior financial doping) have a season behind them in the top flight.

However, 4th placed may well be good enough for European football - but many would see that as failure this season.
