Being important to a cannon fodder outfit is not really an achievement though.

Exactly. Same with Balatoni imo.

Third highest goal scorer in this league isn't exactly great when you're talking 8 goals. 3 more than a certain centre half.

He's averaging exactly a goal every two games which is the benchmark for a good striker. Especially when only 2 other strikers in the league are out performing him, especially when one of them was a premier league player a few years ago and the other has scored 36 goals in the past two seasons in this league.

So this was basically a reason to say Morten a lot. Seems a lot of work for such a small payoff.

This thread wasn't especially focused on Morten until you came in crying that there weren't  more players from the Greenock Galacticos in the best of the rest squad.

Why are people including leahy in there teams? We have a 17 year old keeping him out the team at the moment, is the championships left backs really that bad??

Jason Talbot is probably the 5th or 6th best full-back in the division, so yes, they really are that bad.

Not saying Talbot is shite, but he's solid and unspectacular.

Not sure now whether Aidan Nesbitt would beat Quitongo to the forward role after his astounding performance in the cup. I guess that's the kind of dilemma that clubs in the genuine top two have to deal with all the time though.

It will be interesting to see how Pars fare over the next three games as although we're on a long unbeaten spell (since 7th Nov) we've not played the top two in that time. Our next four games are against the top four teams. IMO, the transformation of us from whipping boys to being unbeatable is Nicky Clark's goals, John Herron seeming to be omnipresent all over the pitch but perhaps most importantly, Neolithic Nat Wedderburn.

Wedderburn may be seen as a carthorse by the casual observer (no mention of him in the bottom 8 11) but he makes us tick as has us finally playing in the style that saw us being so rampant last season. As play rages on you'll see him turn his back on play, walk towards his own defence and lull opponents into coming at us. Suddenly he springs into life and in a brief moment he flattens the person with the ball and anything else in a 10 yard radius, slips the ball to one of our pacy forwards and we're suddenly up to last season's trick of having four or five fast players rampaging forwards, swamping the opponent's defence. He's not a player that would fit in to every team but for us he's a crucial figure for protecting the defence and turning defence into attack. Josh Falkingham did a similar role for us last year but was probably deemed too wee at this level. His positional discipline was suspect too. Big Nat's lack of pace means this isn't an issue for him. I doubt they've even had to wash his strip for the last couple of months as he doesn't need to break sweat.

I think we're a few players short of being genuine top four challengers but it will be a revealing few weeks to see how we shape up. McMullan and Herron must be catching the eye of better teams than us for next season too so matches against Hibs and United are the perfect chance for them to really put themselves in the shop window.

For sure Forbes, Lamie and the skinny weird looking Doode Nesbitt would be in any "best of the rest" side. As I said earlier play like they did second half yesterday they will not only catch DU but threaten the 2nd bottom Premiership club if they get that far.
