Polling: 2017 General Election, Council Elections and Independence

Recommended Posts

This would be outright scenes it were to happen. "Progressive alliance" with a majority of one, four if Plaid got involved. Ooooooft.

What makes me really doubt it though is the SNP losses. Surely not?

I genuinely don't believe this exit poll, certainly the SNP part of it.

Going by these figures, Salmond would lose his seat, wouldn't he?

So would any swing in the seats between Labour and SNP? Apparently a lot of 50/50 between SNP and Labour in Scotland. That seems to be the main area of doubt.

I'd expect the exit poll to be flipping a lot more seats in the Central Belt to Labour than the SNP's traditional stomping ground. Possibly Edinburgh, Fife etc.

Don't be mad.

Poor campaign, yes. But under pressure? Come on.

Why not, the SNP have been less than impressive in recent years.

Under very, very difficult conditions.

They have to run a country with major cuts in funding. Being in power is not easy, and they've been in power a long time now.

That, combined with opponents making this about devolved matters over Westminster matters.

I would be very very surprised if the SNP only won 34 seats.

I thought they'd win about 48.

Poor result if it's less than 40.

Any idea what % swing from the SNP would give them 34 seats?

I'm not doubting that but they've been very unimpressive and she didn't help her cause by meationing what Dugdale told her, I never trust anyone after they give away my confidence.

The snp would be mental to rock the boat at the moment. Brexit is going to throw a lot of grenades into British politics. Holding of nerve is what is required.

I'm not suggesting Nicola should be punted but arses need to be kicked, the arrogance has been ripping out of the SNP for a while now.
