sugna
I think that this is the nub of the last 5 years, and probably a decade or two before that (whether or not you want to separate the before-and-after clubs doesn't really affect that). There seems to have been no real attempt to balance the concepts of a sustainable business plan and competitiveness. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that a fear of not being competitive has prevented a sustainable business plan from ever emerging. "More 'investment' needed!" There is also the dilemma, as has been abundantly clear this season, of what the consequences might be of explicitly accepting second-best: hence the "Going for 55!" campaign. The income is so dependent on the fan base believing they can be top dogs; but the expenditure to keep that belief going - barring miracles - greatly exceeds the income from the fans. As has been noted before, there seems no feasible way to square this circle: the way the club is being run is already nowhere near sustainable, and even at those levels of excess expenditure the fans are insisting on much greater excesses in return for their ST money. The sums just don't add up, and no one seems particularly interested in rocking the boat and pointing that out. We see a lot about how many more millions are needed; very little about the fact that the club is loaded with debt and appears to need a full extra tranche of ST money (and then some) to discharge that debt - before the first pound is spent on transfers in the summer. This is exactly what Whyte was doing with Ticketus: "Need to borrow some money against a future income stream, because the club isn't breaking even." weirdcal
Looks like findlays argument is basically 'he did what the clumpany were already doing and the 'duped' board were well aware of this at the time'He is also making david murray look like the shyster he is. Id be very surprised if whyte is convicted going by what is being tweeted.
