Coventry Saint
If they had a good manager, the 6-1 defeat would be used in the same way that our defeats to Morton and Dunfermline were used. Remains to be seen how Csaba Rank will react.
Bobby_F
We need to look after our own results. Do that and the teams chasing us will find it very difficult to keep up as they take points from each other. If (IF IF IF) we win on Saturday, then if United bounce back with a win v Dunfermline on Saturday we stay 6 points ahead of United and go a pretty huge 16 ahead of Dunfermline. If DAFC beat DUFC then we go 9 points clear at the top. We're in a brilliant position. Let's focus on our job, and it'll get better every week.

Doesn't suit me - I prefer the Shhhhhhh approach - but it's good to hear the squad is feeling confident. Sorry I would have provided you a link, but it's The Sun and to be honest there is absolutely no reason to give them click throughs or extra ad revenue. They are a hate ridden "publication" that are only considered to be moderate because of the metal fucknuggets at the likes of the Mail or Express. Anyway, as for your point, I agree. I do prefer a dignified silence. Allow me to regale everyone with scripture... "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding." Then again this is the time of the short news cycle, social media and (of course) "fake news". So what Magennis actually said and how The Sun spin it are likely to be two different things. That said, and as you've eluded to in other posts, if Lazlo can't use a 6-1 humping by a team in the relegation battle then it doesn't sound like a few 'off the cuff' remarks are likely to engender the ire of United players.
Stu
The main issue I had with the Magennis interview is him saying "the games we have coming up next probably aren’t as tough as United’s", especially when you think about our record against Dumbarton.
Coventry Saint
Captain fantastic Stephen McGinn is making all the right noises about signing a new deal with St Mirren: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/15812429.St_Mirren_captain_Stephen_McGinn_ready_for_new_Saints_contract/ Quote Talks are only in the opening stages, but McGinn would like to commit his long-term future to the club. “There have been so many games in the run-up to Christmas and over New Year that it has made it difficult to sit down and talk but I am definitely really happy here,” he said. “I am enjoying my football. I am loving life at St Mirren and hopefully we can get something sorted out. I am really happy at the club and hopefully it is something that we can get sorted out.”

Have only missed one away game to Dumbarton in the last couple of years - and we won 2-0. I'm taking that as an omen !
Gareth_Glasgow
I was a bit underwhelmed with McGinn and thought he went off the boil after a good start to his second spell, but he's been absolutely superb the last few months. He was our best player by miles against Morton and Inverness. Just needs a goal this season!

I'm certainly glad he's with us.

Again though, I think the burden of responsibility has been lifted a wee bit from his shoulders for having someone else capable of leading like Davis in the side. Jack Ross did mention earlier in the season that being club skipper was a bit of a mental hurdle for him to overcome as he had been putting extra pressure on himself.

As has been mentioned many times before HD is a class above this division and the confidence he inspires helps everyone else to concentrate on their primary roles.
Coventry Saint
The f**k's going on with this forum, btw?! The servers are as robust as a Morton title challenge.
Kingston Bud
As far as I’m concerned United are still favourites and we are the underdogs. That’s how I want it to be just like in 2000 and 2006Dumbarton away is usually a grim place for us so any form of victory will be superb.

Doesn't suit me - I prefer the Shhhhhhh approach - but it's good to hear the squad is feeling confident. I'm with you. I wince when I see things like that written. There's a lot of newspaper articles that could be getting pinned up in the DU changing room coming from our players just now. I too am a big fan of keeping shtoom until it's over however I do also appreciate that it is good there is confidence. I don't imagine the players are going off and giving interviews without Jack having guided them on what to say and I have a massive amount of trust for him so am cautiously happy with them talking the way they are. Sssshhhhh!
