Bohemian
That's the thing lads, you hardly expect the money to be re invested immediately do ya, we all know that's not the way most chairman work. You seem to be arguing amongst yourselves about this money as if it's the be all and end all of St Mirren. As most of you have said you're a well run outfit, so relax and enjoy the upcoming pumping of Dundee Edited July 17, 2018 by Bohemian

We've been there before as a club and it was a fucking nightmare. We spent most of the 90s trying to recover, in fact.

Petrie and Lawwell are playing hard ball with each other so wouldn't expect it anytime soon either ha. How is your squad looking?
Buddist Monk
While I agree that we won't just take McGinn's money and spunk it away, but if there is to be a marquee signing they'll need to be paid more than buttons. Speculate to accumulate!
Bohemian
Any word on who this Marquee player might be?
Buttocks Brown
I've heard suggestions that a good chunk of the McGinn money would be used to convert W7 into a safe-standing area.

Buddist Monk
I think Stubbs has painted himself into a corner here. He initially said he wanted to bring in players, then an exciting player and finally a marquee signing. Of course us, being fans, have jumped on that last one with glee (and understandably so). I wonder if he had the chance, he'd roll back on the word "marquee".

We conceded something like a goal every 31 minutes he was on the park last season and he isn't exactly good going forward. Relatively slow and not outstanding technically.

He'd do a job for us though, surely? We're trying to finish above Livingston and Hamilton, not Celtic and Aberdeen, after all...

Kingsley was valued at X million and we got a percentage of that. The good thing is Celtic are dealing with Hibs who tend to squeeze out more cash, better tho if an English club were interested tho as like the Scott Allan deal to Celtic it was 2 or 3 players either loan or good + cash. Worse case scenario is he sits tight till January
djchapsticks
Think last night was evidence that we are about 4 or 5 players short of where we need to be. We went down the same route last season in the LC. The 5-0 pumping off of Thistle had many of us lamenting that several players weren't good enough and most of them went on to be an integral part of our season. However, going by the manager's interview last night, he's clearly worried already that a few of the lads (new signings included) at the club aren't up to standard. It's easy to point the finger at the non league English players but that doesn't fly. Kellerman, Cooke, Heaton etc, even playing English 5th or 6th tier are facing opponents of higher quality than Spartans on a weekly basis so really should have been doing a lot better. No one covered themselves in glory from that starting XI last night. Stephen McGinn and Ross Stewart were the two who seemed to change things about with their presence.
