We may technically still owe them the friendly, then, whether he stays or not.

Coleraine are hardly going to coin it in from a St Mirren friendly though.

I'm sure it'll just be cancelled.

There must be more too it, than the commuting from NI issue for it to be like this. Another shambolic off season.

Oran Kearney and Gordon Scott fly to Belfast for St Mirren’s friendly against Coleraine....

Hearing Kenny Miller is set to rip up his Dundee contract to take a player/manager job at St Mirren.

Good luck :D worked a treat for us

The only way Miller would get the job, was if he was wearing a Jim Goodwin mask.😉

Depends on the situation.

Stephen Robinson's family are still in England iirc so he does a fair bit of commuting. And for us it worked in the past with McGhee still based in the south of England. But it really depends on the team around the manager. With McGhee it worked when he had Scott Leitch in his first spell and his second spell with Robinson. Then it fell to bit when James McFadden was assistant because he knew f**k all about coaching.

St Mirren had Brian Rice involved and brought in Jimmy Nicholl to try and fill the gaps but now both are gone. I think the board are justified in thinking Kearney can't do the job in his current situation unless they bring in more established coaches but then why pay Kearney at all?

GLS must have known Kearney wasn’t going to move over permanently when he was first interviewed for our gig, but lost out to Stubbs. GLS certainly must have known about it again, when he came back to Kearney to say ‘sorry about that Stubbs thing, fancy digging us out of a hole?’. For his part, Kearney must have made it clear, certainly the second time they spoke post-Stubbs, that yes, he’ll try to dig us out of a Stubbs-shaped hole, but he’s not uprooting his family and as discussed at his first interview, will commute. Both parties then agreed on the commute thing.

St Mirren and Kearney clearly came to an agreement on all sorts of stuff before he eventually got the job - wages, an assistant, commuting.... so what’s changed?

Has GLS came to Kearney at some point following our penalty shootout win against the Arabs to say something like ‘now you’ve kept us up, we need you to move over’, and Kearney has said ‘nope, we already discussed this many times’.... or, did Kearney indicate if we stayed up, he would move over, and has now changed his mind?

All very strange, and so St Mirren. Wouldn’t be a close season without our manager buggering off.

Wouldn't it be nice though; if at least publicly an  civil announcement / agreement was forthcoming, unlike those offered via various forums, whereby Ok was given credit for what he has achieved and is wished well in his future career

During the season, we generally just piss-fart around the lower regions of the bottom six. Then during the close season, break out the popcorn and play the closing ‘boom, boom, boom’ from Eastenders. We are certified box office gold and are once more crowned Scottish managerial crisis fuckwittery champions. Nine in a row, no less.

Disgusting post.

It's 'doof, doof' not 'boom, boom'.

If I am reading the Sun story correctly, it seems like Kearney wanted to commute daily from Ireland after selling his house here but agreed to do that twice a week. I think Scott is absolutely entitled to question his commitment if that is the case.

If what Graeme McPherson says is true, I quite simply don't think it's feasible to commute from NI every single day and expect it not to have an adverse effect on your ability to perform your job.

It is a minimum of 4 hours a day travelling given the flight time, airport waits each way and distance from Belfast to Coleraine.

If what is reported is 100% true, I think GLS is actually quite within his rights to question if OK wants to be here long term. That's reasonable....if the guy suddenly starts changing the goalposts to that extent, it's clear he's not settled and his head's not fully in it. Or he's working his ticket safe in the knowledge he has two jobs to go back home to?
