Couple of these boys will never make it for us. Fraser Murray being a prime example, been around the team for a good couple of years and barely kicked a ball. Josh Doig looks the most promising on today’s viewing.

Murray has looked quite busy and gets around the pitch a fair but lacks that bit of pace/skill to burst past players. I don’t really know what position he plays. He’s never a winger.

3-1

He does look very slow/weak. Definitely not a winger, doesn’t look like a centre mid. Maybe behind the strikers but he’s nowhere near good enough to get in ahead of Allan.

For me this is the problem we've had for years in integrating guys who have looked really promising into first team regulars. They get to 21/22 and still look like wee lads compared to the folk around them. Compared to likes of Campbell or even McCann and Turnbull who are technically good but have the engine and the strength to win their battles as well. No surprise that the one successful transition we've had in years is Porteous who seems to be naturally a bit of a beast physically

Alan Temple on the Terrace's preview of our season the other day. Seems to have a lot of insider knowledge and some interesting thoughts. The jist on the playing side:

Ross is keen to play Nesbitt and Doidge together, and thinks a 352 facilitates this best.

Gray and McGinn would be right sided centre backs in such a formation, wright and Boyle right wing backs

Club and Boyle both feel that, between the financial situation, the point he's in in his contract, and his reputation, that while they're not exactly pushing for it both would be happy to accept a good offer this transfer window.

(As an aside he also said a 352 doesn't really suit Boyle at all, which I think is a bit of a nonsense really. He's maybe played his best football in a 433 as a winger but was incredibly good as a wing back previously and was much harder to mark attacking from deep. In a really limited team you'd want him to always play further forward but I feel we have other weapons so shouldn't cater the team completely around him)

Club were starting to arrange a loan deal for Kamberi back to the followers of the Dark Lord Sauron but he and his reps sunk it, want a permanent move. The club would be happy to get anything more than they paid to Grasshopper back for him.

He felt left back is an area we're needing help, but excited about Doig. Feeling in the club is he has shaved a year off his development, plan was to get him a loan to the championship this year but he's shown up so well in pre season they're happy for him to challenge Stevenson. No mention of Newall at wing back.

McGregor has come back, according to folk in the club, playing every bounce game like the world cup final. Hopefully means he'll be more than good enough to cover at CB

He's confident we'll try and get Docherty one way or another by the end of the transfer window. No suggestion of how likely that is though

Hi chaps

Quick question, did Jamie Insall ever do anything at Hibs?

He seems to be your biggest fan on Twitter.

Thank you.

P.S. f**k the Maroon Goons.

His twitter patter is a bit of a riddy tbf, he never played a competitive game for us and was only on the bench once.

Obviously has a lot of affinity towards the club but the way he makes out he’s relevant on Twitter is a bit cringeworthy imo given he made less appearances for the club than Kleton Perntreou.

Hibs academy kids start back training at East Mains w.e.f. next Monday.

I find this information hard to believe as those of a Maroon Balloon persuasion assured us that Ron the Con had disbanded the academy and fired all the staff........................mind you, they also said they would be playing in the Premiership or be £8m better off
