Grayson could be a decent fit at Boro. He's definitely earned his shot at a bigger club again.

Monk is at Boro. Grayson has gone to Sunderland. Its going to take him sometime to turn Sunderland around and I fear he wont be given time due to the nature of the championship.

Thought this was the Football League 2019/2020 thread. Apologies. :P

If he can sort out the deadwood at Sunderland then he'll do alright.

Sunderland are a basket case; Grayson probably reckons that he's had and been sacked from enough jobs already that simply 'managing a big team' for a while will be better for his long-term career prospects than 'another manager sacked by Sunderland' going on his CV. In his circumstances it's a free hit; whereas manager with less experience in England (including McInnes) would risk being written off as a dud if they failed there.

There is of course a small chance that he could actually turn things round there, but he'll be lucky to survive past Christmas IMO.

Pleased with Blackburn business so far. 7 years and a plummet down the divisions for the owners to finally get their finger out and back a manager.

Edit - they're still c***s but

This gets said quite often but the English game has finally gone mad. Wolves agree a 20m Euro fee for Ruben Neves from Porto. Youngest ever captain in a Champions League match, played a considerable number of games for Porto domestically and in the Champions League.

To mid-table Championship Wolves.

For 20m.

Have they not got a rather unsavoury deal with an agent though? They'll be investigated over it in the next few years of what's rumoured to be happening is true.

They do, and they clearly have the money to throw at it, but even so how they could convince a player like that to come is unbelievable.

Reports in the Times this morning that the EFL could be set to offer a similar range of packages to the TV Companies to that offered by the Premier League. This could mean around 300 live games, obviously this would mean a lot fewer 3pm Saturday kick offs. Talking like they'll have weekend/midweek packages, simulcast packages (like the European coverage where there will be several games available at the same time across different channels/red button), the possibility of a free-to-air live package and a highlights package for 9pmish on a Saturday.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bury have rejected a third bid of £500,000 for striker James Vaughan, 28, from Championship side Sunderland. (Bury Times)

Grayson already proving he's out of his depth at Sunderland.
