.Linfield beat Ballymena 1-0 to go top, they and Coleraine have full points from 4 games. Glenavon are third with 10 after last night's draw with Glentoran, with Crusaders, 2-1 winners at Ciftonville where both sides finished with 10 men, fourth with 9 points, fifth are the Glens with 8 and sixth are Carrick rangers on 5.

Bottom half: Cliftonville with 4 points, eighth are Warrenpoint Town on 3, edging out Dungannon Swifts also on 3 on goal difference, the Swifts winning at Ards last night, 10th and 11th are Ballinamallard and Ballymena still having only 1 point each, and twelfth and propping up the table are Ards with 0 points.

What's happened to Cliftonville this season?
On the flipside, what's happened to Glentoran this season?

Cliftonville have been on the slide these last couple of seasons, and after last season there was only one way for Glentoran to go. But although it's still relatively early days, I can't see either of them challenging for the title, although they could - and probably will - take points off the "big boys".

O.K., time for my in depth analysis of the weekends results (aka c&p from BBC website. I hope you realise I'm only doing this because Coleraine are top of the table.

Coleraine win a humdinger with Glenavan, 4-2 at the Ballycastle Road Showgrounds and have 15 points from 5 games. Second are Linfield, who obviously have a game in hand, and have 12 points from 4 games. Third place are Glentoran, vastly improved so far on last season, who won 2-0 at The Oval against Warrenpoint Town who finished with 10 men, and have 11 point (from 5 games), leap frogging Glenavon who drop to fourth and have 10 from 5. Crusaders are fifth with 9 from 4, and up to sixth thanks to two wins in a week are Dungannon Swifts, who defeted Ballinamallrd United 2-0 at Stangmore, and have 6 points from 5 games.

Bottom half: Carrick Rangers are seventh, with 5 from 4, a point ahead of stuttering Cliftonville, who lost at Ballymena, and they have 4 points from 5, ahead of the aforesaid Ballymena on goal difference. This was Ballymena's first win of the season, and a clean sheet to boot. I still fancy Ballymena to finish in the top 6. Warrenpoint are a point behind the Reds and the Sky Blues with 3 from 5, eleventh are Ballinamallard with 1 from 5, and Ards are still bottom as they didn't have a match, so 0 from 4 for them.

Can't understand why I've only recently discovered this page.

Could they not use The Brandywell?

I'm shocked by this, truly shocked.

The IFA are actually helping a club side rather than swanning off to exotic climes. Perhaps they are trying to negate the bad press from this little belter,

Cliftonville have a new manager bedding in but I suspect they will still be at the top end of the table come May. They have a lot of firepower up front.

Glentoran, as Jacksgrandas says, could only get better, but the introduction of the kids has been a breath of fresh air for them. Big test at Windsor Park this Saturday though.

After a slow start at Bangor, Coleraine eventually saw off Ards 3-0, the artificial surface giving the Bannsiders problems apparently, particularly in the first half. An early goal saw Linfield win the Big Two Derby (can it still be called the Big Two Derby??) to win 1-0 at Windsor against Glentoran, who put up a creditable display and gave as good as they got. The Blues have yet to concede a goal in the league. Crusaders ran riot at Ferney Park, thrashing Ballinamallard 5-1, while Glenavon won 2-0 against Carrick on Friday to briefly go second.

Ballymena won again, 3-1 at Warrenpoint and Cliftonville won the battle of the Reds, beating Dungannon Swifts 2-1 at Solitude.

Coleraine are top with 18 points from 6 games, Linfield second with a game in hand (against Crusaders), 15 points from 5, with Glenavon third on 13 from 6. Fourth are Crusaders with 12 points from 5 games, a point in front of the Glens who have 11 from 6. Cliftonville move into the top half of the table courtesy of that win over the Swifts, and are sixth with 7 points from 6 games.

Bottom Half: Seventh, only on goal difference from Cliftonville, are Ballymena who seem to be getting their act together, also with 7 points from 6. Dungannon Swifts are eighth with 6 from 6, a further point back are Carrick on 5 from 6, then a two point gap to Ards and Warrenpoint Town both with 3 from 6 and bottom are Ballinamallard United with 1 point from 6 games.

In Division One, Ballyclare Comrades lead the way on 11 points from 5 games, with Portadown, Lurgan Celtic and Knockbreda all in hot pursuit one point back.

At the bottom Dergview and Larne prop up the table with 2 from 5 games, Larne bottom on goal difference, although they will have been pleased with their point yesterday against Ballyclare.

What has seen this upturn in Coleraine's fortunes this season?

This is our "good first half of the season season". We'll collapse after Christmas. Next season we'll start poorly before going on a great run after Christmas, to finish second.

So no managerial changes or influx of new players?

No managerial changes, Oran Kearney is still in charge. Don't know about new players :o, talk was Coleraine would struggle due to long term inhuries, but so far have confounded the critics.
