wee David Squealy  not too happy about the red, when I first saw it I thought they both flew in so 50/50. Don't see a card rescinded too often and you never see a red card reversed, I didn't watch it just the highlights, did he show the Linfield player a yellow at first?

I think it was a straight red.

Did the Crues player get anything at all?

No, other than the red which was rescinded.

Seeing it again, I think he should have got a yellow, but the Blues man deserved to go. Mind you, I had to watch it about half a dozen times - who'd be a referee!

Coleraine's unbeaten run comes to an end at Windsor, as the home side win 2-1. 2 down at half time the Bannsiders battered the Blues in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, and pulled one back, but were unable to get the equaliser. Let's hope this isn't the start of the usual Coleraine collapse.

Glenavon won at Ballinamallard and are now only 2 points behind Coleraine. Crusaders hammered Carrick 7-1 at Seaview, the game being over after half an hour, 3-0 to the Crues at that point, and they were 5 up at the interval. Crusaders are third, four points behind Glenavon with a game in hand.

Warrenpoint didn't enjoy much luck against Glentoran, hitting the woodwork twice in the first half, and missing numerous chances, 3-2 to the Glens.

Cliftonville won at Bangor against Ards, Cliftonville's seventh win in eight games, and Dungannon lost to a late goal at Ballymens. Cliftonville are now fourth, on 31 points, one behind Crusaders, but have played 16 games, two more than the Crues.

So it's starting to heat up at the top of the table, but Ballinamallard are making no inroads at the other end.

In the Championship, Ballyclare are still top, but only on goal difference from Institute, and having played a game more. The Comrades suffered a 4-1 hiding at Newry, while Institute won 1-0 at Lurgan Celtic. Larne moved off the bottom, courtesy of a 3-1 win over Knockbreda, and are a point ahead of Lurgan Celtic, but have played a game more. Larne are apparently being bankrolled by their new owner - anybody know anything about this?

In the Intermediate, Distillery are still top by a point, despite losing 3-0 at Tobermore, but have played a game more than Dundela who won 5-1 against S&L Swifts.

Donegal Celtic move off the bottom, after beating Queens 2-1.

The big game finished 1-1 at the Coleraine Showgrounds, so Coleraine's 100% home record went as did Crusaders' 100% away record. On Friday Linfield won 1-0 at Glenavon. Cliftonville collected all 3 points against Ballymena, 1-0, while inconsistent Glentoran slumped at home against Ards, 2-0 for the visitors.

Ballinamallard and Warrenpoint drew 1-1, Warrenpoint will be the happier with that, and Dungannon recorded a win at long last, crushing Carrick 4-0.

Coleraine top, 42 points from 17, 6 points clear of Crusaders, who have a game in hand. Glenavon third on goal difference, also from 16. Cliftonville fourth with 34 from 17, fifth are Linfield 33 from 16, with Glentoran sixth, 25 from 17.

Bottom half: Ballymena seventh with 21 from 17, one point ahead of Dungannon, ninth Ards with 13, Warrenpoint have a point less, Carrick are eleventh with 9 points, having played only 16, and still bottom are Ballinamallard with only 5 from 17.

Championship: Ballyclare are top with 30 points from 15, 3 points ahead of Institute who have 2 games in hand. Larne have moved off the bottom, Lurgan Celtic currently propping up the table, with Dergview in between them and Larne.

Intermediate: Distillery top, 3 points clear of Queens and Dundela who both have a game in hand. Donegal Celtic have moved off the bottom, Annagh United now having that distinction.

Coleraine still clear at the top pursued by Crusaders who won a pulsating encounter with Glenavon at Mourneview, Linfield dropped two points at Windsor against Warrenpoint Town, who were unlucky last week against Crusaders.

Coleraine may take a fair bit of shifting from the top spot, looking very good, second half of the season cold be a cracker between them and the Crues,

Can't see Squealy lasting too long at Linfield , don't think there'll be another miracle, they are way off.

I really love this league. Wide open and always one or two really entertaining games to watch. This weekend's 3-3 draw between Linfield and Warrenpoint, and even more so Crusaders winning 4-3 at Glenavon (Johnny Tuffey  ) are absolute barnstormers. Worth a watch on the BBC website.

Coleraine have been very consistent but they seem to be niggling out results at present without really firing. Crusaders very much best placed to capitalise should Coleraine suffer from a second half slump. Hope they don't though, it's been good to see someone different at the top of the league.

Barry Gray is coming into his own at Cliftonville and they can't be totally ruled out. At the bottom, quite impressed with the job Matthew Tipton is doing at Warrenpoint; can't really see beyond Carrick and a doomed Ballinamallard for the bottom two spots.

Larne are spending huge money in the Championship (not really quite sure how) but hard to see beyond Institute for the title with Ballyclare in the play off spot. Good to see Distillery doing well in the Intermediate league; they;ve had a horrible few seasons but seem to be pushing back a bit this term.

Somebody's bankrolling them apparently.

Have to agree with everything else you've written!

ETA: Oran Kearney quite pleased that Coleraine have ground out results in their last two games v Dungannon and Ballinamallard, 6 points , two clean sheets - just the sort of games where the Bannsiders usually drop points.

The founder of Purple Bricks is from Larne and he is bankrolling them. Plans for a renovated ground and they outbid Linfield for a player. Apparently two more to come. Always loved my visits to Larne back in the day. They will win the Championship next season.

Linfield see off Cliftonville 2-0, well deserved at the end up, although the Blues scored against the run of play in the first half. In the second half they stepped up a gear, Cliftonville fell away.

Glenavon won 3-0 at Dungannon, despite going down to 10 men. Glentoran dropped 2 points at Carrick, conceding a late equaliser, always seemed likely, the Glens never stamped their authority on the game and 1-0 isn't a great lead. Ards survived a late goal from Ballinamallard to record only their second home win of the season, the Mallards haven't picked up an away point and have lost 13 away games on the trot.

David Jeffrey was singing Oran Kearney's praises on Radio Ulster Sportsound this afternoon, saying all his hard work over the last few seasons is now paying dividends.

Huge result for Linfield, even if the only practical effect is a big cup of water on the embers of Cliftonvulle's title challenge. Linfield too far behind now to take the title but will have a big say in who does.

Straight shoot out now for me between Coleraine and Crusaders. The other results pretty much went as expected, other than Glentoran stumbling at Carrick. Such a strange, unpredictable side these days.

Blues second goal was counter attacking football at its best. We could go on another phenomenal run like last year, but I doubt it. A quality striker coming in during the January window may take the heat of Andy Waterworth.

Coleraine traditionally blow it but, if we can't win it, then I sincerely hope they can hang on. Hope Glenavon can maintain their challenge too. Good to see crowds up at so many clubs too.

to be fair saying that the Glens are inconsistent is actually an improvement because it means they're decent some of the time ,

Might venture down to the big 2 game on Tuesday, blues win very much on the cards but you never know, always good to take in a match on Boxing Day.
