It's nice of you to tell the Catalans what they should do. I'm sure they'll give your views the importance they deserve.

It's nice of you to take a side in an issue you know nothing about. Quite possibly even less than me.

I take no side in it. The future of Catalonia is up to the Catalans, not me.

In which year did the Catalans vote on the constitution?

You know that. It was the time when they decided to fight against fascism with unity and liberalism. It somehow seemed like a good idea, so almost everyone voted for it. Now we have fascists, conservatives and other right wing lunatics about to take over Spain because little Catalonia were annoyed by being ignored, and pretending that an opinion poll was a referendum.

Have you heard of Google? You're probably using it now.

They voted against the budget because they were trying to get their pals out of jail. It didn't work, now there will be a fascist party supporting a right wing party running Madrid. The Catalan parties are idiots.
For the avoidance of doubt

The 'Catalan parties' don't support the far right.

They won't be voting for the far right's budget

The first sentence here trivialises human rights and looks a lot like victim blaming.

It's the Spanish centre right that have caused this by opening the door to fascists for political gain.

Spain will get the parialamet it has voted for.

It's far from over.

Yes. Catalonians voted by 95% for the Spanish Constitution, with a turnout of 68%. Them's the rules.
Look im being serious here because I've said this before and you keep pulling this line out.

My family voted for it. Of course they did, it was the best option during an incredibly difficult time. They would consider independence now. Few Catalans think it should deny them now the right to decide. It was a complete different world then.

Haha you're infuriating!

When they voted for it with a huge majority. If they've changed their minds they should be persuading other regions to get behind them and change the constitution, rather than crying their eyes out about paying a bit more than Andalucia because they're rich.
You must be pished surely.

And voted to hold an independence referendum 18 separate times, and were denied each time.  Then held one and voted for independence.

Clearly drunk.

welshbairn has been deliberately ignorant on this for ages. I have no idea why, but it's been a definite pattern. Probably best to file any post by welshbairn on this subject in the bin where it belongs.

For some it's much easier to refuse to confront the facts on an issue if the facts aren't very nice.  Also for unionists here they are so demented in their opposition to Scottish independence that they will happily support literal fascism in Spain.

welshbairn has supported arguments on independence in Scotland, and taken the exact opposite stance on the same situation on this one. This is how I know it's just wilful ignorance than any actual belief. I have no idea what welshbairn gets out of such nonsense, but I have absolutely no desire to give a f**k about any post he makes on this subject. It'll be dishonest posturing.

Scotland is not the same as Catalonia. I want Scotland to be independent to likely stop us ever being ruled by Tories again. The Catalonians have forced an election that will likely replace a socialist Government with a right wing/fascist coalition. Jailing the Catalonian politicians was mindbogglingly stupid and wrong, but the so called referendum was illegal and boycotted by those who want to stay part of Spain, so meaningless.

Wow.  Such ignorance and arrogance.  Could have come straight from a rabid brexiteer.  Or Duncan Hothersall or some other yoon roaster like that.

I don't really blame Catalan Nationalists if a nation that they don't why to be part of decides to vote Fascist. Surely the fact that Spain is even considering voting Fascist is a pretty fucking good reason for wanting to separate from Spain?
Good post. The crazy thing about Welsh bairns post is Spain isn't really considering voting fascist at all though. It's a party with 10% of the vote and the largest party will probably be the centre left.

His grasp of what's going on leaves a lot to be desired. From top to bottom bollocks
