That's what we're worried about, not the socialism. Is there another meaning for GAF other than the homophobic one? Nobody expects foreigners from non-baseball playing countries to like the sport. It's understandable that you need to have played it growing up. Just make sure to enroll your kids in t-ball so they aren't the loser kids of Euros who are really good at soccer, don't know anything about any other sports, and have the only crazy dad in the stands for that sport. Soccer is the sport that we don't care about as kids when playing and the one where the parent's aren't supposed to be going nuts in the stands when 8 year olds play. Americans do expect people who move here to like American football to fit in. I'm guessing you already do.
TheProgressiveLiberal
Again, not Swampy. I actually wonder who this mofo is on the board now. He's got to be having a great laugh. Gave Mr. Thomas a greenie even though I love baseball just to make up for the red dot I caused. Mr. Thomas is being very sketchy about where exactly he is moving. At least give us the state. Baseball is more of a specialized skill than the athleticism of basketball, American football, or British football. It's also a largely individual sport disguised as a team sport. Athleticism still matters. See Billy Hamilton of the Reds if your curious how a guy with marginal baseball skills can be a star in the sport based on pure athleticism. How big is Pie and Bovril in Scotland? I post on a local board which shall remain nameless. I check out The Mainboard for young white (mostly) people and The Coli for blacks (mostly) on occasion. I don't have a profile at either one though. There is a Scottish Celtic fan on the Coli that I see post from time to time.

Scary Bear
Have done, and travelled round a fair bit. How long did you live there and why did you leave? My brother and also an acquaintance from Kirkcaldy both live quite near each other on the Bay Area near San Francisco. The weather always seems to be great and it seems a really nice place to live. Can't see either of them coming back here.

BFTD
Anyway, good luck to the OP. I'd no idea there were so many Rangers fans in Kansas, but clearing them out sounds like a righteous crusade.

The Americans still get pissed off that Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series two years in a row. Also, the whole idea that it is the "World Series" when Toronto and Montreal were the only teams from outside the USA. Other countries like Cuba and Japan are keen on baseball but I seriously doubt there are plans to a genuine World Series with teams from around the world. If you move to somewhere like Green Bay, Wisconsin - you are definitely required to love American football (even if secretly you don't). I also recall somebody saying real football (as in the game that is played mostly by moving the ball with your feet) is the most common school sport in America - simply because it is cheaper. Oh, and as has been said before, if you hate the national anthem - then avoid all sporting events - even at a school level.

Torpar
Since moving out of Scotland in 2014, apart from family, I can safely say I miss nothing about living in Scotland. I can get Irn Bru in one of the supermarkets here, sausage rolls too and I can watch boring English football with my breakfast on a Saturday morning. That being said, in April last year I must have been feeling a little homesick and ended up joining a well known Scottish football forum full of roasters and I'm listen to Off the Ball every Monday ETA - f**k living in America
