Did this not lead to Stalin?

Saying this is like saying WW1 led to Hitler: it was far more complex than that. I think it was clear that Lenin opposed Stalin and the direction in which he wanted to take the Party, nd I'd argue that history has validated Lenin's misgivings.

Lenin was a top boi who saved millions of Russian lives by withdrawing them from a pointless and horrific battle between scummy empires.

Instead they had a civil war that lasted till 1922 with up to 10 million casualties.

Which is, of course, no fault of the revolutionary movement; unless people shouldn't try to liberate themselves because it's opposed by imperialists.

Not sure who actually got liberated given what came after.

Stalin's chief executioner, Vasily Blokhin, killed 7,000 people in a month by shooting them in the head.  Used a German pistol because Russian made pistols weren't reliable enough.

So bare that in mind.  If you are going to murder everyone post revolution you better get a good capitalist pistol first.

Arbroath could do with a few pairs of his shooting boots.

You understand that's not how history works, aye?

I know how it didn't work, allowing the Provisional Government to set up a democratically elected socialist state, instead replacing it with an unelected murderous dictatorship.

You can't make an omelette etc etc

Maybe the UK and other imperialist powers shouldn't have been sending troops and support to the White Russians and left the top lads to get on with the settled will of the Russian people.

Fascinating fact the war memorial in Kinnell church near Arbroath is marked 1914-1919 as there was a local man killed as part of a British regiment sent to fight for the counter revolutionaries.

So that'll be a no.

f**k him up, comrade.

I'm hoping for a lengthy explanation of dialectical materialism and October 1917 being the first of an inevitable chain of events that will lead us to communist Utopia.
