And the fucking ball was about 6 feet over the line before the cut back.
HibeeJibee
Launched before 10,090 exactly 2 decades ago the Festival Cup showed much promise as the newest iteration of intra-capital competition. Sadly it was abandoned after only 1 further edition. Edited August 2, 2023 by HibeeJibee
Flybhoy
Full time at Windsor Park in November 1981 and a goalless draw against Norn Irn sees Scotland qualify for the following years World Cup in Spain along with the hosts who made sure of their place by beating Israel in the final game, mental to think the three teams who missed out in that group were Sweden, Portugal and Israel, that would be the ultimate group of death these days and testament to how us and the North of Ireland really punched above our weight in international football back then.
Flybhoy
An exhausted looking Lou Macari celebrates his goal with hat trick hero Dixie Deans in Celtic's 6-1 win over Hibernian in the 1972 Scottish Cup final, the hoops made a habit of knocking Hibs for six in Cup finals in that era.

It wasn't all one way; about two months later Hibs put five past Celtic to lift the Drybrough Cup.

Aye, they won a league cup final against Celtic in the 1970s as well I believe, sure my dad said that is the only major final they have ever won against Celtic, quite some statistic that given the long history of both clubs.

LongTimeLurker
...for the red-green colour blind. Guess the Clyde merger wasn't the only time Accies briefly went out of business then.
bluearmyfaction
The irony seems to be that the Accies would have gone out of business had anyone been bothered enough to turn up to vote for their dissolution. Having already renewed their Scottish FA membership, and therefore having a Scottish Cup tie ready, they staggered on long enough for an upturn. Wonder if any of the Hamilton Hibs players went over because there's nothing more about them. (Glasgow Hibs certainly came a-poaching, maybe Celtic did too.)
