Arch Stanton
This broke St. Mirrens record transfer fee paid. Soon after they broke the transfer record for a deal between two Scottish clubs when they signed Frank McDougall.
Eednud
Dundee lost 1-7 to West Brom in Vancouver on this day in 1959. The West Brom team group includes at least one Scottish born player, Jimmy Dudley (back row 3rd from right). Born in Gartcosh, his family moved to England when he was 8. He played in West Brom’s FA Cup winning side in 1954 and played once for Scotland B in a 1-1 draw with England B at Sunderland a few months earlier. He might not have been on the North American tour as he moved to Walsall for the 1959/60 season helping them win the Fourth Division that season. https://mickysix.wordpress.com/2014/12/18/walsall-player-62-jimmy-dudley/
GNU_Linux
In the early 90's prior to Fergus McCann saving Celtic's skin the club were exploring a move away from Parkhead to a site in Cambuslang on Bogleshole Road including a retail park, restaurants, bowling alley & cinema among other amenities. Fifteen sites were identified before settling on Cambuslang including Linwood, St. Rollox & Robroyston. The site today is occupied by the Tenants distribution warehouse. HibeeJibee
Hearts as league runners-up had to jet off to the International Soccer League so the section runners-up would qualify. Unfortunately they were in a dead heat forcing a playoff tie at Tynecastle. (In the concluding sectional game Hibs were actually 0-0 with Falkirk at HT but struck 4 without replay in 2nd half - the vital 4th from Martin coming just 9mins from time). Section Four Playoff Sat 23 May 12,523 Dunfermline 1-3 Hibs (at Tynecastle)

People complain of repetition nowadays... in 1964 they met 5 times from May to August - and 7 times during 1964-65! Both Hibs & the Pars were in the Scottish Cup semi-finals so it could have been eight times . Hibs got Celtic instead, who by the time they played had already "taken" their manager (Mr Stein) who knew them well enough to come up with a plan to beat them - so Hibs also missed that 8th game in the Final and so Stein beat another former team 3-2 in the Final for his first trophy with Celtic. In the league Celtic/Rangers both finished out the first 4 places (Killie, Hearts, Pars, Hibs). The Pars messed up a "make-up" game (postponed due to Scottish Cup taking preference) otherwise they'd have finished ahead of Killie/Hearts and won the league. As to the Summer Cup it was Stein's only trophy with Hibs though he was hardly there for very long and the lure of Celtic was too much for him.

Completely depends on the match... run-of-the-mill league games and Scottish Cup or League Cup at larger clubs are usually worth only a few £ each, e.g. here's what the programme shop near Easter Road would charge you for St Mirren home games - as you can see they typically go from £4 early in decade to £2 by the end, but some are worth upto £10 and a premium on the Hearts title decider from 1960 takes it upto £40: Scottish League S – Almondvale Programmes European games, smaller/non-league clubs, short-lived and regional cups (e.g. Renfrewshire Cup ties), plus friendlies can be more, e.g. Morton v St Mirren in Summer Cup sold for £41 on Ebay last month and St Mirren v Preston NE in Paisley Charity Cup (1967) sold for £31 while back; games v OF have evidently gone for £10-20. He drank in the same pub as me for a few years before he died. Great guy, and loads of brilliant stories. His fingers were a mess from all the time he broke them. Willie claimed he broke a couple in a brilliant save from Eusebio, but we told him it was getting them fangled in the net, when he was picking the ball out.
