The Aberdeen Mega-Hyper New Stadium Thread

Hope my professional drawings helps here? 
Pittodrie loses half a compass, and most have to get across or along King Street to leave (let's accept that arriving is always OK due to staggering of travel)
Kingsford has 5 immediate ways out, all flowing initially from dual carriageways, heading to the city, deeside, donside, south AWPR & north AWPR which connects with A96 and the north A90.  
Kingsford wins hands down (except for our fans that swim to the game).

Yes. I’ve been on the bus and never had bother, as I’ve not had another 100 buses plus every single person in the stadiums car queuing infront of me to get out and I also took the train once and managed to walk back to Union Street along with hundreds of other people and return to Dundee, which you’ll now not be able to do either.

 

Nobody will be walking away from the stadium to there cars that are parked elsewhere and there is one road to que out on too for everyone in the stadium and it’s terrible.

Let's keep it to football whilst trying to argue the point. :lol:

AWPR = £603m from SG, £75m from Shire, £75m from City
Harbour = £11m from Scottish Enterprise, £11m from Shire and City, £175 from EU
City Deal = £25m per annum with a total of £44m from Shire and City

Queensferry Crossing = £1,325m all from SG
M8/M73/M74 Improvements = £1,400m all from SG

 

It didn't cost 603m, that was just the Scottish Governments share.  It actually cost £758m and even that was underestimated as the contractors are taking a massive hit (Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Galliford Try)

Just to keep it to the football side, there was no indication at the time of design of the AWPR that ACC would be looking to site the AECC  nor that AFC would look to build their stadium right beside it.

The stadium car park will only hold 1300 cars, the rest will be at Kingswells or round the various Arnhall car parking spots the club have secured, and no doubt a few who will park in Westhill itself.

But yes, Dundee (until recently) and Aberdeen have been completely overlooked for public projects compared to the central belt.

There's a reason on Google Maps, if you zoom out far enough it says that all roads stop at Perth.image.thumb.png.f37fb9b4220c231eb6c4e0a30e062bc6.png

Also, why does the Airport not have a station, it's literally half a mile from Dyce?

Labour have raised the idea of a light rail system linking the airport, Dyce train station, and the new AECC.

Not entirely sure it's needed or justifies the cost.

It's because if anyone wants to build anything new the locals are out with their pitchforks protesting. See New Aberdeen Stadium, bypass Union street Garden thing etc.

You're acting like the whole of Aberdeen and the north-east can walk to Pittodrie. Most people drive or get a bus there too.

Important to note that Transport Scotland, Roads Development Management and Police Scotland have all looked at the Kingsford plans and believe traffic will be fine.

At Ibrox the other week, the police stopped all the traffic and allowed the entire away support (buses and cars) to drive past - even on the right hand side of the road - so they were all on the motorway within minutes.

Likewise, at Pittodrie traffic gets stopped to allow away buses (Old Firm ones at least) to leave. 

At Kingsford, the police are likely to block the road and allow the shuttle buses and supporters buses to all exit the stadium car park, get on to the AWPR, and be away before all the cars.

Technically two - Dyce has a train station. 

How can all the shuttle buses leave at the same time? By definition they will be going back and forward.

Police Scotland haven’t commented as far as I know and the TA has been classed as “weak”

But we’ll all find out soon enough.

And these are ? When you would leave the stadium it’s either right or left . Yes both roads eventually have offtakes. But there would only be one exit.

We wouldn't want to inconvenience the football fans now would we? 

If you need to shut a road to facilitate the stadium then quite clearly it is in the wrong place.  With existing stadia that may be the case but to build one where this is a necessity - planners would have to be mad.  Which is why in Aberdeen that may just well happen (see the number of roundabouts with pedestrian crossings and the entry/exit of roundabouts as evidence of their idiocy)

They do that at Celtic park, McDermid Park, Iprix, Tynecastle and Hampden, maybe not Easter Road but temporary road closures or restrictions are perfectly normal things and make better and easier journeys for everyone.

They lift cars away from parts of Albion Road and close it off before a game finishes. I had to sit in my car for about 45 minutes waiting to get back home one night earlier this year after the Edinburgh Derby in the Scottish Cup.
