stronger up front

That's all fair enough. They had the greater threat in the final third but they are an established SPL team with a player rumoured to be getting sold for around £500k. That does make a difference in the important moments of games.

It was far from the disaster some would have you believe.

Totally, they only had 2 chances of worth I can remember and took them well. We coped well with them and didn't look a division below for most parts. Definitely need to keep the ball on the deck for the rest of the season and we will be OK.

Was Pendlebury any good? Can't decide if he's going to be able to control a game or if he's just gonna have the role of pinging in worldies.

He didn't control the game, he wasn't bad but not brilliant either.  Out shone by Mr McGeady today.  Pendlebury will contribute if he has the right people around him, we haven't found that mix yet. I'm not convinced by Rose yet, hopefully he finds some form soon.

One thing I noticed on two or three occasions was our insistence in playing out from the back breaking down when it was in our left back area.

Nothing to do with Reading but more the lack of options you'd expect him to have to pass to.

Team mates showing in the middle of the park, central striker or into the wide areas just weren't there for him. Definitely a work in progress in there.

The team formation 4-1-4-1 was really good with Musonda as holding midfielder. He had a much better game than his first game back.

McGeady and Chalmers class and Smith and Stanger both had good games. Some positives even though we lost.

Wasn't at the game but it's beginning to look like we're going to need a second striker signed just to fill the void that Dipo left as Rose doesn't seem to have come flying out the traps and well yeah we know what everyone's feelings are on McKenzie and Bryden.

Lack of goals is a bit alarming also, only 2 goals in our last 3 games asks a lot of questions considering we've got likes of Amartay, McGeady, Murphy and now Chalmers as attacking players who on paper is a decent combination yet very little seems to actually be getting created.

We can’t just keep signing players because the ones we have aren’t performing though.
We have 4 midfielders out for a while but have two fit to play, Murphy is injured but we have Chalmers, McGeady and Amartey that can play there, with Ashford and McKenzie that could and do cover.
We have Bryden, McKenzie, Ashford and Rose as forwards.
We have at least 2 players for every position and in some cases the first choice isn’t good enough.

That’s up to Mathie to review, he talks about how small our budget is compared to other teams.

I'm not being funny though out of Bryden, Ashford and McKenzie how many goals & assists to do they have between them in the last year?

No way it's even double figures, alarming that they seem satisfied carrying these sorts for another year and if Rose gets injured that's the first 3 names you'd be relying on to fill the void upfront, last year we had the exact same guys including Dipo and Young so if we matched last years amount of strikers we're technically due another.

Bryden is a bit of an exception as he should be out on loan, still too raw to be at championship level yet.
