This is exactly how I feel about Reading. Yet the manager thinks his level dropped because he didn't have competition! 🤦‍♂️

I don’t think anything has ever bewildered me more in my time supporting Ayr than the support Reading has from the manager. Utterly horrendous footballer.

Not defending Bullen here at all, but if we gave every young player we had a run in the team to decide if they were good or not then we’d never win a game.

He isnt any worse than Reading so should be playing at least one or two of these games imo, but I don’t think he’s Championship level. I’ve seen enough defensively from him to come to that conclusion.

I think the issue comes from the fact that last year he showed glimpses of ability albeit also had a howler against Partick. If this was just some youngster we wouldn’t bother. No one is clamouring for Viviani to be started but people are aware that Ecrepont is decent and he’s playing in a position where we are having issues. Logic woukd dictate you’d give the second choice a fair crack before signing someone else but it looks like Bullen has already got it in his head that he’s not going to be used and doesn’t see the merit in starting him.

Then again he could go and start him against Alloa and St Johnstone and this conversation is moot.
