People just react to the last thing that they feel didn't work. Ultimately, while not every signing will pan out you would still expect skilled professionals to have a decent hit rate in terms of successes to failures. Otherwise you'd be cheaper replacing them with a dartboard and chucking arrows to decide who signs.

Under the current process, the players signed from Scottish teams far outweigh the players brought in cross border in terms of success. We have had a lot of shite players from Scotland and we signed them when we were part time, it is no surprise that the best times we have had have been when we are full time in the last 20 years. You can't equate signing JML to signing Neil Gilmour or Ian Cashmore. The market you are in dictates the quality of players you sign.

If you are a Premiership club with any sort of chance of qualifying for Europe then this isn’t good but for us who will never be affected by the coefficient it’s absolutely hilarious and I relish midweeks in August every year. Just a shame it wasn’t 54-5.
Aliayr76
And how is this so funny the better the scorers are the better the players getting experience the better for the national team and that could benefit the whole of Scottish football. Back to what this page should be we have had dipo, tomi, shankland, moffatt, all in the past 4-5 years let's hope the morra we can sign somebody like these 4 players who can score like these guys

From the only interview he's given that I've read since he joined it was implied he watches plenty of games in person and produces detailed player reports highlighting strengths and weaknesses. Not sure why everyone thinks signings are simply data driven because they haven't heard of the player themselves. If he has actually watched some of the players in person and suggested we sign them then that's even more worrying.

Coollestersmoothe
Mind the days in the late 90s/early 00s when we'd pish money on transfer fees? Did we not spend £150k on Annand and Grady and 75K on Teale the season before (for some reason these figures are associated with these players in my memory)? Mad to think that all of that money left Scottish football almost overnight.

Would love to know what we got back from Dunfermline for Sleepy Joe. Most entertaining piece of transfer business in club history. Would we have paid anything for Shankland or Rose when they left Aberdeen or was it a case of Aberdeen waiting until they had a destination and then releasing them for us to sign for free?
Utdtillidie2
In October 1998, due to Clydebank's growing financial difficulties, Teale was sold to Ayr United for a fee of £70,000, a signing described by McCall as "a Christmas bargain in October."[13] Although there was interest from several English clubs, Teale opted to remain in Scotland as he felt he was not yet ready to leave his home country.[14] He made his debut in a 2–0 win against St Mirren,[15] and scored his first goal for the club on his home debut two weeks later in a 4–2 win against Falkirk.[14] He played a pivotal role in a 3–0 Scottish Cup victory at home to local rivals Kilmarnock in 1999, winning a late penalty which was converted by Andy Walker, a goal that has gone down in history due to the humiliating manner in which Gordon Marshall the Kilmarnock goalkeeper was beaten. Wigan Athletic This section needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. (February 2011) In 2001, Teale signed for Wigan Athletic for an initial fee of £275,000, which rose to £400,000 due to subsequent additional payments. Copied from Wiki. Didn’t realise we got as much for Teale or that McCall sold him to us.
