They seem oddly obsessed with a nation they can’t be arsed playing for...

Could be that they also feel some sense of loyalty to a country that took their families in and saved them from persecution at the hands of the Serbians? Just a thought.

Well deserved win for the Swiss and an entertaining game at the same time. Can’t help but feel they will deport me if they f**k it all up against Costa Rica.

Shaqiri is a bit like Charlie Adam - wee and fat and always goes for the Hollywood ball.

On the other hand, he is talented and his sister’s pants are not the best.

Except Shaqiri is scoring at a World Cup and has most of his teeth.

“Fat” is maybe a bit harsh too after viewing his goal celebration, although some love handles on the boi.

I would’ve thought they’d still rather have played for Albania or Kosovo in the circumstances, but there you go.

He’s just a glamorous James Forrest.

Xhaka’s brother plays for Albania, and all would have qualified for Kosovo but chose not to switch.

Xhaka faced his brother for Switzerland v Albania in Euro 2016, IIRC.

Once they've legitimately got citizenship..........................

It doesn't seem that unreasonable that people might retain some affection for a nation that they were forced to flee in a civil war, while also being happy to represent a nation that provided them refuge.
