The Met Office frequently promotes temperature ‘records’ at airports like Coningsby, Heathrow and Northolt, which are filled with concrete, tarmac, machinery and jet exhaust. It is difficult to think of worst places to take readings designed to provide an accurate record of U.K. trends. Furthermore, the heat distortions caused by growing urbanisation have undoubtedly corrupted datasets.

The Met Office has retrospectively added over 30% heating to the record over the last 20 years, while removing similar amounts of heating from the period 1850-1900 to produce a century long heating trend.

Speaking about the fires on Rhodes on GB News on Monday, Mr Oliver accused the BBC, and other broadcasters, of trying to "make people terrified of the weather. Those supposedly terrifying temperatures that were being predicted, all starting with a four... 40 this and 40 that... were obtained using satellite images of ground temperatures," he said.

In short Neil Oliver was talking shit and all temperatures given on any reputable weather forecaster, is given as the temperature in the shade.

When will Ofcom stop GB News spouting such nonsense.

You can clearly see from this chart how much of an anomaly this is. Normally the peaks are around March.

“The average daily global sea surface temperature beat a 2016 record this week, according to the EU's climate change service Copernicus.

It reached 20.96C.

Oceans are a vital climate regulator. They soak up heat, produce half Earth's oxygen and drive weather patterns.

Warmer waters have less ability to absorb carbon dioxide, meaning more of that planet-warming gas will stay in the atmosphere. And it can also accelerate the melting of glaciers that flow into the ocean, leading to more sea level rise.

Hotter oceans and heatwaves disturb marine species like fish and whales as they move in search of cooler waters, upsetting the food chain. Experts warn that fish stocks could be affected.

Some predatory animals including sharks can become aggressive as they get confused in hotter temperatures.“

Fcuk it - I’m away to watch Jaws while we still can.

Wildfires in Hawaii killing 36 people, the unusually strong winds and dropping humidity. Massive destruction of nearly the entire tourism sector on the island will be a long term effect of the unusual climate.

Death toll now 93 and climbing…I’m honestly surprised it’s that low. That’s with searchers having only covered 3% of the devastated area with cadaver dogs and nearly 1,000 still missing. To put that in context, the entire islands population is just under 165,000.

The town of Lahaina was an artistic magnet, with an entire row of galleries and storefronts destroyed, along with some artists life’s work. The rebuilding will be very prolonged, as most supplies have to be shipped from the continental U.S. or other suppliers, and the amount needed will surpass the normal imports of building supplies for Hawaii, the State, for the next several years. Additionally, Maui is primarily a tourist and agricultural island, so lacks large port facilities to make importing supplies easy, even from Oahu.

Let's hope any rebuilding efforts are in good faith&not used as an excuse  for speculator types to monetise the catastrophe as happened with new orleans

Your hopes are already probably dashed, he wouldn’t be saying this if things weren’t already happening:

Also, the rebuilding costs and regulations will ensure the “regular people” will be squeezed out:
