With the openings we were making, I thought we’d at least equalise but there was no quality in the box.

As said above, Halkett was injured.

I caught a little bit of Jim Spence talking at HT on Alba; are things really *that* bad financially at Dundee? I get that Nelms(?) is pumping money in but I thought the 4,000+ crowds would cover costs...

I didn't see that but officially, Dundee are OK as the ownership situation means that we can't actually accumulate any debt (beyond a small figure) or run up arrears in payment of bills.

That being said, the owners have been covering short falls since they've arrived - usually a few hundred grand a season. It looked like it'd ease up a little bit but they've really just totally lost control of the football side of things.

We've been paying massive squads for years. A general rule is to look at our already big squad and then add a few extra players to it that we'll be paying money to settle their contracts early. You're talking about 35-40 players on the books and then a manager and assistant sacked early in the season.

Past that, we've got a stadium that is costing money in rent + upkeep and steadily increasing but I think that it's mostly down to us just being dreadful at getting value for money.

I think the Americans thought that they could make a club sustainable from transfer fees but have taken time to learn that it doesn't usually work out that way and we spend more trying to repair the damage when we do lose a player.

Jim Spence is a gibbering gobshite.

Tbf hes not wrong, I'm sure ICT reported a drop in income just shy of £1m after dropping a tier. If United aren't in your division, you keep McIntyre, and you start off poorly, then your crowds would struggle to maintain themselves.

Will the owners really write off a £3m+ loss without a second thought?

Spence has been trying to say the 'bubble is burst' financially for Dundee since the Americans took over. His BBC article after the Yanks first took over and we had our first set of accounts since they were in charge was ridiculous. He was either blatantly lying (which he does a lot) or blatantly incompetent (which he tends to be).

Let’s be honest we both know that the prize money in the Fundesliga and the parachute payment from the top league are vastly greater sums now that they were when Inverness went down. Runners up prize money this season is around 500k when it was under 100k when we were previously in that league and the parachute payment is now over 400k. We’ll basically be 200k plus around 15 000 paying punters in the away end down next season on this season unless the filth stay down. The major losses are the 2nd season onwards where there’s no parachute payment.

Spence is a bitter, bitter c**t of a man because his son got punted 10 years ago, even the dabs dislike him and think he’s a gobshite.

Whars the battle bus Jim, ye nugget.
