haufdaft
I thought this was interesting from the Daily Record's reporting of the so called Rangers dossier."The SPFL know reconstruction talks are a sham as they require contract renegotiations with broadcasters"Hopefully there's too many obstacles to reconstruction.
shawfield shed boy
At the very least we should be demanding a substantial compensation package to try and lessen the financial impact and allow us to challenge better.Longer term you would like to think we could establish ourselves in the second tier far more easily than under the current setup. However, getting out of that bottom 14 would not be easy as cove & kelty seem to have money to burn. QP seem to have some financial backing now too plus teams like Peterhead and Forfar who are similar strength to ourselves. Getting stuck down there for another long spell would be soul destroying and isn’t a gamble we should be having to take if ‘fairness for all’ is being applied.Read somewhere Alan trouten might be signing for QP . Very difficult league to get out on latest proposal

Technically you can have a recount, but with only 12 clubs to vote, surely even they cannot balls that up....
Bully Wee Villa
Ta. While it may be unpopular to say so, I still think it is harsh on Hearts and Thistle. Either one or both could have escaped the bottom two, or at least finished in a playoff spot. That being said, it would have been far harsher to effectively relegate ourselves and Peterhead despite us being nowhere near a relegation points total. 14-10-10-10 with no relegation this year would have been a sensible compromise. The current outcome is far fairer than imposing 14-14-14 on clubs three-quarters of the way through a season. It also seemed particularly stupid to ask teams to vote on reconstruction without announcing how promotion/relegation/playoffs/top flight splits were going to work. Anyway, just hope that things get back to normal as soon as possible, that we can have fans attending matches again, and am looking forward to heading up for my next Clyde game. Ending it the way it is is the fairest way IMO. Hearts and Thistle have been bottom of their leagues for the majority of the season. Don't think you can award sides promotion but not punish sides bottom. And yes this opinion would be the same if it wasn't Thistle bottom
haufdaft
Is that it? Or can they still have more votes?I do wonder what will happen if there's no football until 2021.Lots of time for reconstruction talks before then using financial pressure on clubs as an excuse.

Disgraceful behaviour for too long now. A dinosaur of an ‘institution’ who have tried to destroy the game for their own ends. This has nothing to do with fairness for all clubs. It’s self serving and I feel that it’s aimed at masking a bigger issue for them (their financial position and its possible impact on UEFA licence ? ). If it all unravels, it’ll be the fault if everyone but them.

Very difficult league to get out on latest proposal If reconstruction is off the table, the 1st division looks like a very difficult league to remain in. Ceteris paribus Falkirk, Airdrie, EF, Thistle, Montrose, P Head and Cove all look better resourced than us.
maxruby
Falkirk’s new sponsor is interesting. Old Italian restaurant chain? (dolor asinae)

At least if we did end up in the bottom tier it would be fair and square and not because they reconstruct the leagues.

TheBigGuy
Cove will be a HUGE upgrade on Stranraer. They could very well reach the playoffs as a minimum. Edited May 9, 2020 by TheBigGuy

haufdaft
Would it be better for the club if the season was declared as postponed until January.I doubt if there will be any games before then and at least the club can plan with more certainty.
