  1. I think Jordan Allan’s reaction was due to goading following the 2-0 at Stair Park a few weeks ago. However, I think much of the goading was from the Stranraer players rather than the fans (leading to the unsavoury scenes at the end of the game). As for the game itself, first half was a non event. I thought we dealt well with what Stranraer offered with the wind behind them but offered little going forward. Stranraer should have taken the lead right after half time. Kinnear saved but the chance was a sitter to be honest and he shouldn’t have been given a chance to save it. After that it was all Clyde but we made hard work of it, although the wind had alot to do with that I think. I think Stranraer were very lucky to have 11 men on the park at half time. The challenge on Allan just before half time was reckless and high, catching him in the face, and looked a red card all day long. Anyway, still alot to play for and I’m shitting it for the next 4 weeks, as I’m sure Stranraer and Bonnyrigg fans will be too.
  2. No I haven’t but sometimes wish I was. The money would have been spent whether the benefactor was there or not. There was simply no option. Spend or die. I’d doubt we’d be paying more than we paid for the likes of Danny Lennon and David Goodwillie for Iain McCall and Jordan Allan. Despite our league position and homeless status, our support didn’t drop that much. We’ve also saved money by leaving Broadwood by all accounts. If there is indeed a benefactor, brilliant and it’s probably given us the ability to take a few risks financially. Don’t think we’ll be looking forward to cup finals though.
  3. Sorry, but you’ve no idea what’s going on. You are trolling and wide of the mark so best give that one up. Btw, The fact that Clyde are still in existence despite the many challenges we have faced over the years and the fact that we still attract more than the likes of Kelty, Edinburgh and EK despite being rock bottom and complete shite for 2-3 years tells a story.
  4. Why is that then ? If you are referring to Clyde splashing a bit of cash to save themselves, then this is completely different from the scenario I’m describing. I’m led to believe btw that the cash being splashed isn’t from a benefactor but the club’s own funds. Please explain.
  5. My ideal scenario would be for Brechin to win the HL/LL playoff against East Kilbride. Can’t see either of them not winning their respective leagues. Although I’m originally from EK, i can’t bring myself to like them. They are another Gretna/Kelty/Edinburgh City. Fling money at it and it’ll work. Not if nobody is interested it won’t. EK can barely muster 200 fans when they are winning every week. Edinburgh and Kelty are stinking out League 1 with shite performances and crowds of 300 odd. To be honest, as long as Clyde stay up, I’d see everything else as secondary. However, I’d rather Stranraer than Bonnyrigg and Brechin than EK. Firstly, Clyde need to keep winning of course.
  6. Spot on. Spitting at someone is vile. Quite disappointing that spitting back seemed to be the reaction. Should have leathered the p***k Cantonaesque.
  7. My goodness. How can someone with no connection to the club harbour such bitterness over an event many years ago that had nothing to do with his own club ? Not the first time you’ve mentioned it either. For what it’s worth, many of us weren’t comfortable with it at the time either and didn’t go along. However, given it was in the dim and distant past and those involved are no longer at the club (thankfully), we move on. Not entirely healthy to dwell on the past with such bitterness. Perhaps you’d be better served concentrating on your own club’s deserved success at the weekend, a success I watched and enjoyed btw.
  8. As sad as it is being a Clyde fan right now, we need to acknowledge that we are where we deserve to be in the league. The thing that angers us is that it need not have turned out this way. Our club has been mismanaged now for a long time and decisions made in the last 2-3 years have been disastrous. The appointment and then promotion of Duffy and appointment of a failed captain as manager were decisions that we all knew would end in tears. All except the Board apparently. We have won 9 league games in 2 calendar years. A quite shocking record. I’d be astonished if we survive the playoffs. As for the future ? No assets, no home and a dwindling support does not bode well. We’ve a small but loyal support, many of whom who have followed the club from Shawfield to our numerous homes. We deserved better from the club.
  9. Great that Duffy has gone. However, the current situation is that we have a coach who is clearly out of his depth and needs help and we have a squad who would struggle to compete in the Lowland League. We now have 2 weeks to appoint an experienced and competent manager/coach (to replace or assist McLean) and put together a squad capable of competing. That’s a big ask and the Board needs to be prepared to throw some money at it if it’s to happen. There is no alternative as the current squad will get us relegated to the Lowland League.
  10. See they’ve stolen Clyde’s ball. No issues really since Clyde don’t know what to do with it.
  11. Commented on the Rico incident. As for the game, first half we were so passive it was unreal. We didn’t press, we were so slow in possession and we managed to create absolutely nothing in terms of chances. Annan were so comfortable and, while creating little themselves, they still had the better opportunities going forward. Despite losing 3 players in the first half to add to an already depleted squad, I thought we played well enough for 20-25 minutes after the break and we completely dominated at that point. However, we just couldn’t create anything to add to McDonald’s goal and we seemed to run out of steam after that. Mullen was getting abuse for Annan’s equaliser but he was given a crazy pass back under pressure that he was forced to deal with on his wrong foot so not his fault in my view. I didn’t see Annan’s winner as I decided to f**k off just before that. I genuinely believe every player in a Clyde shirt tonight gave everything they had. I can’t criticise a player who’s simply not good enough. It’s not his fault. Unfortunately we have a squad of players who are simply not good enough. That’s the manager/recruitment team’s fault, so I can’t sit and shout abuse at individual players.
  12. Yes, I noticed that too as I was sat directly behind the dugouts. I know feck all about Willie Gibson, but I know what I saw and it was a guy who was clearly concerned about a fellow player.
  13. When Rico went down, Gibson played the ball out and immediately signalled for help. He did not attempt to play on or give any indication that he wanted to. He and a number of other Annan (and Clyde) players were clearly upset by Rico’s injury. As Gibson was walking away, some Clyde fans were giving him abuse, I’m assuming for a couple of earlier incidents where he lets say ‘uses his experience’ to gain his team an advantage. Gibson reacts to this and gives some back to the fans. Sure, he shouldn’t have done it but it’s no big deal. Give it out, be big enough to accept a bit back. As Rico was being carried off, Gibson went over to speak to him. I don’t accept that his actions regarding the injury were anything untoward.
  14. Well done for seeking help. Took me far too long to do so 30+ years ago and I suffered too long because of that. Those around me probably suffered more tbh. Different times probably. I’ve lived with depression since then. It’s never gone away but you learn to manage it. What I’ve only managed to do in the last 5 years or so is to be really open about it and the almost overwhelming reaction from others has been positive. It’s no different from having any other form of illness. It’s amazing when you open up and talk about it just how many people tell you they or people close to them have had similar problems. The meds will help. But tell your doc if they’re not working for you because of side affects, etc.. They will listen and change the meds. There are normally some side effects but it’s what you can accept and live with that’s important. Ultimately, you’ve done the hard bit and there’s a way forward. Unfortunately, like yourself, being a Clyde fan doesn’t help !! Seriously, all the best mate.
  15. £20 for League 1 football is a joke. Just back from Frankfurt where we took in Darmstadt v Hanover at €13 and Mainz v Wolfsburg at €11 and that included train/tram travel.
  16. Think photos are a bit deceptive. I took some and the fog doesn’t look anywhere near as bad in the photos as it did in person. From where I was sitting, I thought the fog was definitely at its worst when the ref first stopped the game. I couldn’t see the far corner flags which I could see clearly at the start of the game. I didn’t think the fog was as bad when he finally abandoned it so found that a bit odd. The fans views are immaterial in any event. It’s what the ref can or can’t see at pitch level that’s the deciding factor. Things might have looked quite different from there. As for the game itself, Airdrie are clearly a significantly better side than we are and will understandably be pissed off that a game they were dominating didn’t finish. Hope the injured player makes a speedy recovery. Couldn’t really see clearly what happened. Did he fall awkwardly or go over on his ankle or something?
  17. Why don’t you just enjoy your night after a great result rather than calling people p***ks ? You may meet some really loathsome fans in the next round. All the best in any event.
  18. Even though Clyde did nothing wrong ? Or perhaps as Clyde lodged a formal complaint to SPFL about the behaviour of EFFC at said game ?
  19. Thankfully I couldn’t make it as I had other commitments. Don’t think I’ll be back too much this season. Totally pissed off with our complete mismanagement since promotion. We’ve regressed year on year due to terrible recruitment. If DL chose to make those signings, he is 100% culpable and should walk (although I’m not sure who we could get in that could sort the mess out so I’m sure we’ll stick with him). There is no way we’re staying up with that squad. what pisses me off even more is that many fans donated a fair bit of money last year, both at the start of Covid with donations and then with season ticket balances at the end of last season. And this is what is served up. Complete kick in the nuts.
  20. The booing of Kamara was nothing to do with racism. No other black Rangers player was subjected to it. You need to remember that Slavia last year told a very different story about the incident than was reported here and, despite the player being found guilty, they continually said he was innocent. That would have been all over the Czech media and obviously influences people, even kids.
  21. He’s got previous. Had fall outs with the Clyde fans. Strangely though it didn’t bother me much as he was clearly passionate and trying his best and if you give someone some abuse, don’t throw your hands up if he gives a bit back. Just wasn’t good enough though. His comments are exactly the same as we heard at Clyde. In the end, nearly took us onto the Lowland League.
  22. Thought we (eventually) played well today. Started off way too passive and seemed content to contain QP. Once we started to get the ball down and try to play a bit (albeit it took us a third of the game to do so), I think we posed a threat. Strangely, I thought we went 2-1 down when we were probably at our most comfortable in the game, albeit it was totally self inflicted. No idea what Parry was doing for the first and couldn’t really see the Rumsby foul. However, given that there wasn’t a great deal of complaint from the Clyde players (and it was Rumsby), I assume it was the correct decision. Even after the blow of going 2-1 down, I just thought we’d score again as we were getting into some good positions. Thought it was gone when Goodwillie missed the penalty but he made up for it at the death. His first goal was outrageous btw. Crazy to think that we weren’t that surprised he did it. As for QP, for all their possession and nice passing (first half we probably made them look better than they are), they look pretty toothless up top given the amount of the game they had. Still a better side than us (as they should be), but the difference isn’t what I thought it might be before the game. Still expect QP to be up there at the end of the season though.
