The Naitch
Top 3 for me this year are Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, Jessie Ware's What's Your Pleasure? and Steps have released an absolute pop belter in What The Future Holds. Honourable mention to Kylie's Disco because why not?
Hamish's Passenger
Having only listened to 3 albums that were released this year, my favourite of the year would be Holy Moly by Blues Pills. Tremendous band and a very good album.

Was really good.
Dunning1874
Seeing a couple of people mention Creeper in here, those who like them probably already know about it but if you haven't already then check out Salem, Will Gould's side project. If I was including EPs in my albums of the year their self-titled would be number one, with Zeal & Ardor's Wake of a Nation second. However as EPs don't count, here's the 20: 20. Garganjua - Toward The Sun 19. Midnight - Rebirth By Blasphemy 18. Cerebral Desecration - Further Than The Bottom 17. Mr Bungle - The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo 16. DRAIN - California Cursed 15. Gaerea - Limbo 14. Annihilator - Ballistic, Sadistic 13. Pallbearer - Forgotten Days 12. Lamb of God - Lamb of God 11. Beneath The Massacre - Fearmonger 10. God Dethroned - Illuminati 9. Bleed From Within - Fracture 8. Napalm Death - Throes of Joy In The Jaws of Defeatism 7. Sharptooth - Transitional Forms 6. Irist - Order of the Mind 5. Deftones - Ohms 4. Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment 3. Code Orange - Underneath 2. Trivium - What The Dead Men Say 1. Svalbard - When I Die, Will I Get Better?

Her vocals on Wildfire are beautiful, that along with Stop Dem and Why we Cry are the stand out tracks for me.

Jimi Shandrix
Just been on AOTY website where they accumulate all the best of the year lists into one big super list. I took from it that 2020 has been far from a classic year for music. Checked out half a dozen tracks from everything in their top 10. Seems to be very heavy on anodyne female singer-songwriters. Fiona Apple is comfortably in the lead. I didn't like Tori Amos the first time round so I'm afraid it does nothing for me. Phoebe Bridgers is second with a very late 90's sounding borefest. Sort of like a female Bright Eyes. Taylor Swift doing very well. If you like The National or Bon Iver you'd probably like this. I prefer her old pop bangers. Albanian ned Dua Lipa doing well with her poundland Robyn impression. The one album that really grabbed me was Run The Jewels. Hadn't listened to them before now, but by f**k, it sounds huge. -

Big influence on Mumford & Sons.

coprolite
Do EPs count as albums? Assuming they do, Dusty Bugs by Opiou is my pick of the year. I'm not up to speed with your modern genre definitions but it's some kind of electro funk and track 4 "why not" is the bounciest thing i've heard in years.

Jimi Shandrix
After discussing Napalm Death with the Lewis Capaldi fan above, I went and had a wee blast of "Enslavement" on You Tube to remind myself of many happy days listening to Peel as a teen and came across this from 1989. Napalm Death on a BBC kids tv programme called "What's That Noise". They come on about 1minute 15 seconds in. Can you imagine this being on the Beeb at 4 in the afternoon now? Can't help but think that all the various tribes from that time lost the war.
