Updating details on here isn’t a top priority for myself. In fact, don’t think it can be updated on the phone app, which is the only method I access it with.

SlipperyP
Some movers and shakers been confirmed while I was asleep. China hitting 41 dead with 1,287 confirmed cases Still in second Thailand with 5 cases, however France coming into the picture with 3 cases confirmed, which equals Singapore. The USA , Japan, Vietnam & South Korea sitting on 2. Taiwan and new entries Nepal just the 1. As for the UK, always lagging behind. You guys need to up your game or just get used to it. No longer a big hitter in International affairs. This is what you voted for...

We won't need to rely on imports from the far East anymore.

Nepal are definitely punching above their weight. Think Singapore has enough to see off the challenge of France and expect them to come up with some new numbers later this afternoon after the Lunar celebrations last night.

Tight minge
Malaysia lagging behind here. Would never have happened under Najib, imo.Definitely wouldn’t. There would be 100’s of cases needing millions of ringgit worth of cold and flu medicines stock piled and a huge sums of money miraculously appearing in his bank account. Allegedly.
Guest JTS98
And here we are, the 's-word' from Xi. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2020/jan/24/coronavirus-shakes-citizens-faith-in-chinese-government " On Monday, Xi called for “all-out prevention and control efforts” and “stressed the importance of informing the public to safeguard social stability”. The Chinese state is absolutely obsessed with internal stability. The Communist Party has never had a popular mandate, having come to power through force, yet has to somehow pacify, govern and hold together a huge territory of different languages, cultures, religions, economic situations and opportunities. It does this primarily through ensuring economic progression for the middle class and oppressing and lying to everyone else. Its instinctive response to all public emergencies is to cover up and lie. We see this literally every time anything goes wrong in China. Interesting to see all the outside agencies such as the WHO praising China's response and its openness, despite the fact that China's response has been appalling. Good news here is that it shows that they understand that to get cooperation from China you need to play the face and flattery game. Telling the truth would provoke a hissy-fit from China and make the situation even worse. For me, this is part of a genuinely fascinating political experiment we are going to see in China in the coming decades. The Chinese government maintains power essentially through force. However, despite the Great Firewall, China is now open to information sources from all over the world, and this makes it hard for The Party to control information. There have been numerous incidents in the last few years which have shown The Party to be fundamentally dishonest and incompetent. The current shit-show in Hong Kong is another one where China is being made to look weak. They can't go in and shoot everyone like they'd prefer to, but they have no other way of solving the problem. If they shoot everyone, the world (and now the Chinese) will see. Then, next time they have to put down protests in China with violence - which happens all the time - word will get out and the public's trust may have been eroded enough for their denials or claims of foreign sabotage to simply not be believed. How does an authoritarian government that relies on blanket control of information keep its grip on power when outside information starts to erode public trust? Add in the vast economic disparities between different regions and China is in an interesting place just now. There's a lot more to this than just people getting sick and dying. This is extremely politically significant. Edited January 25, 2020 by JTS98

How very dare you! That money was a genuine donation from the Saudi royal family, no less! The question of why on earth they would ever give the leader of a foreign government any money, never mind that much, or why it was never declared, or why the Saudis won't testify about it in court are simply politically-motivated cheap shots instigated by internal political enemies and their foreign puppet masters who only wish to destroy our Malaysian unity and harmony. Great news from our Government today, we have been screening passengers at airports since Wuhan stop sending planes on 21st Jan and wait for it.....handing out pamphlets since the 23rd regarding health concerns and what to do when you start to feel sick. It has been estimated (not official) that 11,000 passengers from Wuhan have landed in Thailand since 14th Jan, but we are not too sure where they are or if they are even still here in Thailand. This kind of control should see us maintain a strong enough hold in 2nd place.
