11 confirmed in Scotland? Just need a subs bench and we can take the World Cup.

Think it's past the point now where western societies are likely to be able/willing to take the measures needed to prevent it becoming a pandemic in the way that happened in China outside Hubei province. It really needed to be contained more quickly in Wuhan before it left China to the extent it eventually did.

Unfortunately Scotland is going to take longer to get up to the sort of temperatures that normally end the cold and flu season than a lot of other affected countries, so the next couple of months could be interesting in a 1918 Spanish flu sort of way.

I read that the temperature rise isn't going to make a difference here because its flourishing in some pretty hot conditions at the moment. It's different to your regular flu in that respect.

Suspect some people don't understand that Iran and northern Italy get quite cold in the winter. The lack of an epidemic so far in countries like India, Vietnam, the Phillipines, Thailand and Indonesia is a good sign it will behave like other coronaviruses in that regard.

Yes, looks like it doesn't survive well in hot climates. Unfortunately a Scottish summer isn't much warmer than North Italy now.

I was in Poundland in Inverness earlier and all they had left soap-wise was bars.  Home Bargains were down to about three left and Tesco and Holland and Barrett are totally out of hand sanitizer.

Also heard yesterday that the Drumossie Hotel have had one of their tours full of Chinese tourists cancelled.  They'll be sick about that.

Nonsense. The average annual temperature in Venice is 13 degrees, in Inverness it's 12.5. It rains more in Veneto as well. Italian weather is shite. We're still months away from taps aff here.

Northern Italian weather may indeed be shite but the daily highs in Milan this week will be between 12 and 17 degrees. That's not far off a typical summer in Scotland. I admit that nightime temperatures would be better than Italy now, but as a general point I don't think it's nonsense. And as SlipperyP has pointed out, your stats are wrong. I think you're comparing the average temperature in Venice with the average daytime temperature in Inverness.
